The Role:

As a Manager Custom Software Engineering (Manufacturing Engineering / MES), you will lead the design, development, and configuration of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and manufacturing engineering solutions across complex environments. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), manage delivery teams, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure high-quality, scalable software solutions that meet client and business requirements.

This role requires strong MES domain knowledge, software engineering expertise, and leadership capability to drive successful project delivery

Key Responsibilities:

Software Engineering & MES Delivery

• Lead the development, configuration, and deployment of MES and manufacturing engineering solutions.
• Analyze business and project requirements and design software solutions aligned with client needs.
• Ensure adherence to software development methodologies, coding standards, and best practices.
• Oversee maintenance, enhancements, and support activities across the MES landscape.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Manufacturing Engineering and MES.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, IT, and automation.
• Own team-level technical decisions and contribute to program-level solutioning.
• Provide solutions to complex problems impacting multiple teams and systems.

Team Management & Knowledge Sharing

• Lead and manage development teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions, mentoring, and technical workshops.
• Guide junior team members in technical and professional development.
• Drive a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement.

Integration, Configuration & Quality

• Manage system integration and configuration management activities.
• Ensure seamless integration of MES with ERP (SAP ECC / S/4HANA) and shop-floor systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software and integration issues effectively.
• Ensure solutions meet performance, reliability, and quality standards.

Project Execution & Governance

• Support project planning, tracking, and delivery using project management tools and techniques.
• Identify risks and dependencies and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure timely delivery of milestones and compliance with project governance.

Skill Required:

Must Have Skills:

Strong proficiency in Manufacturing Engineering / Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

Solid understanding of software development methodologies and best practices.

Experience with system integration and configuration management.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Experience working in client-facing or delivery-oriented environments.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience with leading MES platforms (SAP ME/MII, Siemens Opcenter, Apriso, FactoryTalk, Camstar).
• Exposure to Industry 4.0, Digital Manufacturing, or Smart Factory initiatives.
• Knowledge of shop-floor integration (PLC, SCADA).
• Familiarity with Agile / SAFe delivery models.

Experience & Qualifications

• 1014+ years of experience in Custom Software Engineering / MES / Manufacturing Engineering.
• Prior experience in a Manager or Lead role is required.
• 15 years of full-time education is mandatory.
