Reports To: Chief Innovation Officer

Position Summary

The role is responsible for chemical engineering design of plants and processes, driving process improvements to ensure safe, efficient, and sustained plant operations. The position also manages technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing for new products and maintains documentation related to engineering designs and process development. Additionally, the role is responsible for exploring new technologies to enhance productivity and safety.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Execution (On-time, Safe & Within Budget)

• Develop basic conceptual and detailed chemical engineering designs for plants and processes.
• Participate in/ conduct HAZOP and Process Risk Analysis (PRA) studies.
• Prepare project conceptualization, costing, and CAPEX.
• Provide drawings and specifications for procurement and assist in vendor/equipment selection.
• Conduct onsite inspection and approval of equipment.
• Collaborate with Projects team for timely commissioning and meeting process performance standards.

2. Manufacturing Excellence & Process Improvement

• Troubleshoot plant operations to ensure efficient and sustained performance.
• Analyze operational data to identify process improvement and de-bottlenecking opportunities.
• Use systematic methodologies to identify and resolve process issues.
• Propose and implement changes in process norms to improve quality, efficiency, cost, and safety.
• Conduct onsite/offsite trials for improvement initiatives.
• Support in implementing IMS (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 & OHSAS) and Responsible Care standards.

3. Technology Transfer & Innovation

• Work closely with R&D to scale up technology from lab/pilot to full production.
• Explore and evaluate new technologies for improved productivity and safety.
• Conduct external environment scanningvisits to vendors, exhibitions, and other facilities for technology insights.
• Conduct feasibility studies and trials for new manufacturing technologies.

4. Documentation & System Management

• Maintain updated documents related to plant layouts, processes, and development activities.
• Implement systems for data storage, retrieval, and updating of engineering and process documents.
• Ensure all engineering drawings (including P&IDs) are accurate and up-to-date.

5. Team Development

• Train and develop technical capabilities of team members.
• Support employee engagement activities.
