Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional to manage indirect tax compliance, advisory, and litigation support. The role involves ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, supporting business operations with tax insights, and driving efficient tax processes across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Indirect Tax Compliance & Advisory
- Maintain strong knowledge of indirect tax laws, including GST and related regulations.
- Track and analyze amendments, notifications, circulars, and case laws.
- Assess impact on business operations and ensure timely implementation.
2. Business Support
- Provide guidance on day-to-day tax-related operational challenges.
- Advise on matters such as ITC eligibility, HSN classification, billing structures, and credit/debit notes.
- Support complex transaction structuring with strong business acumen.
3. Proactive Tax Planning
- Identify and address issues related to ITC blockage, accumulation, and refunds.
- Ensure tax efficiency and support working capital optimization.
4. Litigation & Notices Management
- Handle tax notices, show cause notices (SCNs), and appeals.
- Coordinate and ensure timely and accurate responses at a group level.
5. Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with external stakeholders including auditors, consultants, and tax authorities.
- Collaborate with internal teams across departments to ensure compliance and alignment.
6. Team Management
- Lead and mentor team members to ensure timely deliverables.
- Provide guidance and support to enhance team performance.
7. Return Filing & Compliance
- Oversee accurate and timely filing of returns, forms, audit reports, and tax payments.
- Ensure proper validation of data before submission to avoid errors and revisions.
8. Risk Assessment & Controls
- Identify potential risks in tax filings and reporting.
- Develop checklists, tools, and processes for ongoing monitoring and mitigation.
9. MIS & Reporting
- Develop and maintain a robust MIS system for tax reporting.
- Track and report litigation status and compliance metrics on a monthly basis.
10. Cross-functional Coordination
- Conduct regular interactions with plant finance teams to ensure compliance at all locations.
- Drive consistency in tax processes and governance across the organization.
Key Requirements
- Chartered Accountant (CA) / MBA (Finance) / Equivalent qualification
- 48 years of relevant experience in indirect taxation (GST).
- Strong knowledge of GST laws and compliance
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency in MS Excel and tax compliance tools.
- Experience in manufacturing or multi-location organizations
- Exposure to tax litigation and assessments
- Strong process improvement mindset
