Job Description Summary:

Glaucoma Training & Field Support

Deliver high-quality Glaucoma training, including didactic sessions, wet labs, and dry demos, to enhance sales force capabilities. Provide in-field support by educating surgeons on implantation techniques for Glaucoma MIGS products.

Sales Team Development & Coaching:

Support country leaders in developing sales teams by coaching on technical knowledge, commercial execution, and value-based selling. Lead onboarding programs and ensure continuous learning for new hires.

Collaboration & Strategic Alignment

Work closely with global and regional teams to align training content with commercial strategies. Represent the company at key congresses, providing wet lab and booth support for product awareness.

Technical Expertise & Performance Monitoring:

Act as the key point of contact for Surgical Glaucoma portfolio expertise. Ensure certification of internal sales teams and surgeons, track training effectiveness, and provide ongoing field visits for updates on technology and market trends.

Major Accountabilities

Certification & Trainer Qualification:

  • The role must require advanced level (ACT) qualification so the trainer can certify Alcon associates for surgeon training on the Surgical Glaucoma portfolio.
  • This is critical to ensure internal capability building and high-quality training execution.

Sales Team Development & Coaching:

  • The trainer will actively support the Country Leader in developing their teams, beyond just product training.
  • This includes coaching on selling skills, commercial execution, and performance motivation, ensuring alignment with sales leadership objectives.
  • The trainer will be responsible for onboarding and training new hires, with a structured approach to technical and value-based selling training.

Comprehensive Training Scope & Execution:

  • The trainer will cover training on both Cataract and Glaucoma surgical techniques, as needed.
  • It will also require follow-up OR support for already-certified surgeons to reinforce best practices and optimize outcomes.
  • The trainer will have a role in NSMs, Mid-Year Meetings, and ad hoc regional training sessions as a key function.

Collaboration & Commercial Strategy Alignment:

  • The trainer will work closely with the Surgical Glaucoma Trainers and Global Franchise Training team to ensure training content is aligned with commercial execution strategies.
  • The trainer will attend and provide wet lab/booth support at key congresses.

Technical Expertise & Field Engagement:

  • The trainer will act as the key point of contact for technical expertise on the Surgical Glaucoma portfolio, supporting both sales teams and external stakeholders.
  • The trainer will be responsible for flawless execution of certification plans for both internal sales teams and surgeons to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
  • In addition to the portfolio of their expertise, the Glaucoma training manager will be delivering Foundational Commercial Skills Trainings (i.e. 360 Selling Skills, Business Excellence, Negotiation, Competitive Selling).
  • Focus in terms of time dedication for field support in based country.
  • Provide support in Regional Trainings, when there is need and language abilities allow.
  • Regularly do field visits to keep up to date on technology updates, competition and sales team challenges, skills and knowledge.
  • Be the point of contact for Training for local Alcon Surgical team.
  • Additionally, Glaucoma trainer will have an involvement in KOL development, and need to keep themselves abreast of the latest trends and publications in the MIGS and SLT industry.

Job Requirement 
 

Education:        Science, or Health preferred, bachelor's degree in business, Organizational Behavior, Statistics, Preferred MBA
Languages:      Fluent in English, other major regional languages preferred
Experience & Competencies:

  • 3+ years of consistent high performing experience in Alcon, sales background preferred.
  • 3+ year of ophthalmologic training, sales or marketing experiences.
  • Field Sales Management Experience preferred
  • 3+ years technical and commercial training experience
