Underwriting & Risk Assessment - Review and underwrite digital Health and Personal Accident proposals as per defined underwriting guidelines and authority levels.
- Oversee the team conducting tele?medical interviews, medical history collection, and risk assessment.
- Evaluate health disclosures, medical investigations, treatment details, and risk parameters for NSTP proposals.
- Ensure accurate and consistent application of underwriting principles across all cases.
- Provide system approvals for proposals, policies, and endorsements within delegated authority.
Team Leadership & Governance - Lead, coach, and develop a small team of medical underwriters and tele?medical professionals.
- Allocate workload, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to TATs and quality benchmarks.
- Conduct regular feedback sessions and support capability building within the team.
- Ensure adherence to underwriting SOPs, internal guidelines, and regulatory norms for filed products.
Operational Excellence - Drive processing efficiency for proposals sourced through the Digital Business & Direct channels.
- Monitor proposal inflow, TAT adherence, pendency management, and month?end throughput.
- Strengthen documentation quality and maintain high levels of process discipline.
- Coordinate with operations, sales, product, and IT teams to resolve underwriting?related issues.
Quality, Compliance & Audit Readiness - Ensure compliance with IRDAI regulations, product guidelines, and internal audit requirements.
- Conduct periodic audits of team decisions to maintain high accuracy and reduce error rates.
- Identify process gaps and drive corrective and preventive actions.
Reporting & Stakeholder Management - Prepare and share weekly and monthly underwriting MIS with leadership.
- Support the business team by providing underwriting insights, trend analysis, and case-specific guidance.
- Work closely with Digital Business Group to optimize underwriting flows and improve customer experience.
Process Improvement & Digital Enablement - Support development and refinement of tele?medical scripts, decision rules, and underwriting workflows.
- Contribute to automation initiatives such as rule engines, tele?medical tools, and risk decisioning systems.
- Recommend enhancements that improve accuracy, speed, and consistency of medical underwriting decisions.
