Role Overview:

The Team Lead General Accounting will be responsible for overseeing and managing core accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, book closure, reconciliations, and compliance with Indian accounting standards. The role includes driving operational excellence, managing teams, and supporting Embarks clients with high-quality accounting services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership of Accounting Functions

• Lead and provide strategic direction for the General Accounting function.
• Drive standardization, process improvements, and best practices across all accounting processes.
• Monitor service delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes across teams.

2. General Accounting (GAAP and Indian Accounting Standards)

• Oversee the integrity and accuracy of General Ledger (GL) entries across business units.
• Ensure timely posting, validation, and reconciliation of GL entries in compliance with Indian GAAP and Ind AS.
• Review and ensure accounting treatments align with Indian accounting regulations and standards.

3. Month-End / Year-End Closing & Reporting

• Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing processes for clients.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to Indian accounting standards.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve issues impacting the closing process.

4. Financial Reporting & Management

• Prepare and review financial reports (MIS, management reports, variance analysis, etc.).
• Ensure reports comply with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) and regulatory guidelines.
• Provide insights, analytics, and actionable recommendations to leadership based on financial data.

5. Reconciliations & Statutory Schedules

• Oversee the preparation and review of account reconciliations aligned with statutory requirements.
• Drive timely resolution of discrepancies and strengthen internal controls.

6. Financial Statements & Audit Support

• Oversee the preparation of standalone and consolidated financial statements in line with Indian accounting standards.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors for statutory audits and internal audits.
• Ensure timely closure of audit queries and implementation of recommendations.

7. Compliance & Controls

• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory accounting requirements under Indian laws.
• Stay updated on changes in Indian accounting standards and other relevant compliance requirements.

8. Team Management & Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-disciplinary finance team specializing in general accounting.
• Establish KPIs, provide performance feedback, and support professional development.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong technical knowledge in general accounting, especially in the Indian context.
• In-depth knowledge of Indian GAAP and Ind AS.
• Hands-on experience in managing large-scale finance operations across general accounting.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Proven experience in leading teams and managing cross-functional projects.

Education & Experience:

• Mandatory: Chartered Accountant (CA) with strong expertise in Indian accounting standards.
• Experience in managing diverse finance functions, including general accounting under Indian regulations
