Job Description : Experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise and hands-on programming skills in VSAM, SQL, DB2, COBOL, and JCL. The role for the candidate is to design and write programs to migrate data from VSAM and files to DB2 or SQL Server.

Key Responsibilities

1. Analyze existing VSAM file structures, design equivalent relational schemas and write equivalent DDLs.

2. Develop and optimize COBOL programs, JCL, and SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading.

3. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and performance during migration.

4. Collaborate with DBAs and application teams to validate migrated data.

5. Implement error handling, logging, and recovery procedures for migration jobs.

6. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.

7. Document migration processes and create reusable frameworks for future projects.

8. Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system integration and deployment.

10. Ensure compliance with coding standards, security, and performance best practices.

Required Skills

1. Strong experience in COBOL, JCL, and VSAM file handling.

2. Proficiency in DB2 and/or SQL Server database concepts and SQL programming.

3. Hands-on experience with data conversion processes.

4. Knowledge of mainframe utilities (SORT, IDCAMS, FILE-AID) and data unload/reload tools.

5. Familiarity with performance tuning for large-scale data migrations.

6. Understanding of data validation and reconciliation techniques.

7. Good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

8. Flexibility to work in shifts.

Good to have skills

1. Experience with Microfocus (Rocket Software) Mainframe modernization/replatform tools like HCOSS, MFA

2. Basic knowledge of GCP
