Job Description
Job Title: M365 services SME
Location: Bangalore (Onsite)
Reporting to: Senior Manager CPCOE
PURPOSE OF ROLE
The M365 Architect defines and governs the Microsoft 365 architecture to ensure secure, scalable, and business-aligned collaboration services. The role provides strategic technical leadership, translating business needs into standardized, future-ready M365 solutions that maximize value and reliability across the enterprise.
- Should have good knowledge of Collaboration Platform architecture.
- Experience in PowerShell scripting on Office365 for custom reports or scheduling report extraction from Office365, Azure.
- Should have skills for Stakeholder Management, Vendor Management and Agile Methodologies
- Have good knowledge on ITIL Framework.
- Ability to deal with critical scenarios/issues and escalations.
- Present reports to senior leadership.
- Setting up governance modules and auditing for Microsoft365 Platform.
- Implementation of a strong Security and Compliance (MICS, SOX) processes on Microsoft365.
- Deployment of routine tasks automations, and continuous improvement on the Platform
KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 setup, configuration, and endtoend platform management.
- Deep understanding of Collaboration Platform architecture (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange).
- Handle Microsoft 365 Teamwork Platform issues, including L3+ escalations, and guide support teams for resolution.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for Office 365 and Azure to generate custom reports and automate scheduled data extraction.
- Deploy routine task automations and drive continuous platform improvements.
- Implement and govern strong Security and Compliance controls across Microsoft 365, aligned with MICS and SOX requirements.
- Set up governance modules and auditing mechanisms for the Microsoft 365 platform.
- Perform routine compliance policy analysis and proactively identify and remediate potential infrastructure risks.
- Manage RoleBased Access Control (RBAC) assignments for various roles.
- Create, maintain, update, deploy, and retire Microsoft 365 retention policies.
- Conduct detailed reviews of major incidents and apply ITILbased problem management practices to prevent recurrence.
- Demonstrate strong ability to handle critical scenarios, escalations, and highimpact outages.
- Apply ITIL framework knowledge across incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Identify process gaps, close operational loopholes, and redefine existing procedures for efficiency and control.
- Design, maintain, and govern highlevel and lowlevel documentation, including SOPs and operational runbooks.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across collaboration and productivity services.
- Own and manage the Microsoft 365 licensing lifecycle endtoend, ensuring compliance, optimization, and cost efficiency.
- Conduct regular meetings with global site leads to discuss challenges, improvements, and roadmap alignment.
- Manage vendors and ensure service delivery aligns with architectural and operational expectations.
- Present operational, compliance, and performance reports to senior leadership.
- Apply strong stakeholder management skills and work effectively within Agile methodologies.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
Education:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related discipline.
- Microsoft Certifications is a Plus.
Experience:
- 7+ years experience of working with Microsoft Exchange Online/o365
- Experience of a Hybrid Exchange deployments and Mailflow
- Hands on experience on O365 designing & implementation
- Expert in Office 365 technologies
- Must have experience with leading Office 365 Project as a SME.
- Hybrid Migration issues and their troubleshooting.
- Provide tier three troubleshooting support of O365 issues; investigate user escalation calls, finding optimum solutions for both users and the company
- Ability to architect Enterprise Solutions on MS Teams and other Collaboration technologies
- Hands-on Experience in Planning, Design & Deployment of MS Teams online
- Ability to extend MS Teams and exchange Architectures with other technologies
- Deep Experience on MS Teams, Exchange online and Office 365
- Office 365 Identity synchronization planning, design, and deployment of AAD connect service for Office 365 identity management.
- Azure Active Directory conditional access with office 365 and third-party applications
- Understanding of Active Directory, DNS, and Group policies
- Windows PowerShell for automation of day to day administrative and Office 365 configuration tasks
- Have good client expectation management and presentation skills
- Ability to build relationships and credibility with customers quickly.
- Should have good problem solving and analytical skills
- Personal: Exceptional written, oral and presentation communication skills in English. Ability to share technical expertise successfully, clearly and effectively with all levels of audiences. Strong flexibility and ability to thrive in dynamic environment.
