Job Title: Looker / Data Visualization Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Looker / Data Visualization Engineer with 5+ years of hands-on experience to design, build, and maintain scalable analytics solutions. This role will focus on developing LookML models, dashboards, and visualizations while partnering closely with business stakeholders and data engineering teams to deliver trusted, high-performance insights.

Key Responsibilities

Looker Development & Visualization

• Design, build, and maintain LookML models , explores, views, dashboards, reports, and custom visualizations in Looker.
• Develop scalable, reusable semantic data models aligned with business metrics and KPIs.
• Ensure dashboards are intuitive, performant, and optimized for end-user consumption.

Data Modeling & SQL

• Design and optimize data schemas to support analytics and reporting use cases.
• Write and optimize advanced SQL queries for performance and accuracy.
• Work extensively with Google BigQuery (preferred) or other cloud data warehouses.

Data Quality & Integration

• Assess, implement, and support data integration solutions across multiple data sources.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across Looker models and dashboards.
• Partner with data engineers to troubleshoot data issues and resolve pipeline or modeling gaps.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Provide guidance and best practices on dashboard usage, metrics definitions, and self-service analytics.
• Act as a subject matter expert for Looker within the organization.

Optimization & Automation

• Identify and implement performance optimization opportunities within Looker and SQL queries.
• Automate recurring reporting and analytics workflows where possible.
• Continuously improve user experience through dashboard enhancements and modeling refinements.

Required Technical Skills

• 5+ years of experience in data visualization, BI, or analytics engineering roles.
• Strong expertise in LookML and Looker dashboard development.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL ; BigQuery experience strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (star schema, dimensional modeling, etc.).
• Basic working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) .

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with ETL processes and data pipelines.
• Familiarity with Python scripting for data processing or automation.
• Exposure to data governance, metric standardization, or analytics best practices.
• Experience working in agile or cross-functional team environments.
