Linux Administrator - Level I (1–2 Years) (Immediate Joiners only)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Linux Systems Administrator to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Linux systems, server management, security configurations, and troubleshooting. This role also requires hands-on experience with networking, VPN setup, and cloud infrastructure management, specifically OVH and AWS .

The candidate should be proficient in Bash and Python scripting , with solid experience in managing web servers (Apache2, Nginx) , databases (MySQL, MongoDB) , and version control systems such as GitLab and GitHub .

This role involves close collaboration with development and DevOps teams to ensure system reliability, performance, scalability, and security across both on-premise and cloud infrastructure .

Key Responsibilities

Server & Network Management

• Configure, deploy, and maintain Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) in production environments
• Ensure system uptime, performance monitoring, and capacity planning
• Manage network configurations, VPN setups, routers, load balancers, and connectivity troubleshooting

Security & System Maintenance

• Implement and manage firewall rules (iptables/ufw), fail2ban, and system hardening practices
• Perform regular system updates, patching, backups, and disaster recovery planning
• Conduct basic vulnerability assessments and ensure compliance with security best practices

Web & Database Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain Apache2 and Nginx web servers
• Manage SSL certificates and deploy web applications securely
• Administer MySQL and MongoDB databases, including backups, migrations, and performance optimization

Automation & Version Control

• Develop and maintain Bash and Python scripts for automation, monitoring, and reliability improvements
• Use GitLab and GitHub for version control and collaborate effectively with development teams

Cloud & Infrastructure Management

• Manage cloud infrastructure on AWS (IAM, S3, compute services) and OVH
• Support cloud migrations, resource optimization, and infrastructure scalability

Device, User & Access Management

• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across systems
• Oversee laptop provisioning, internet connectivity, peripherals, and internal IT operations
• Troubleshoot system, network, and application-level issues across environments

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with excellent communication and teamwork abilities in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills

• 12 years of hands-on experience as a Linux Systems Administrator / Infrastructure Engineer
• Strong expertise in Linux OS internals and command-line tools
• Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VPNs, firewalls)
• Experience managing Apache2 and Nginx web servers
• Hands-on experience with MySQL and MongoDB administration
• Proficiency in Bash scripting and working knowledge of Python scripting
• Experience with AWS services (IAM, S3) and exposure to OVH cloud
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows using GitLab and GitHub
• Comfortable working in high-availability, production environments

Nice-to-Have / Bonus Skills

• Experience with Docker and container-based deployments
• Exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
• Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible
• Understanding of DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices
