CTC: Up to 85 Lakhs (Fixed) | Experience: 14+ years | Location: Pune, India

We are inviting applications for a Legal Head to lead the legal function for a well-established and fast-growing commercial lending business. This is a strategic leadership role suited for senior legal professionals who can balance regulatory excellence with business enablement in a high-growth environment.

The role involves close collaboration with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to support compliant, scalable, and sustainable business growth.

Role Overview

The Legal Head will provide end-to-end strategic and operational legal leadership for the commercial lending business. The role focuses on legal risk management, regulatory compliance, litigation oversight, and acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Lending Advisory

Serve as the principal legal advisor for lending portfolios including SME lending, working capital finance, LAP, and structured lending

Advise on lending structures, credit documentation, security creation, and enforceability of transactions

Documentation & Contract Drafting

Lead drafting, vetting, and negotiation of loan agreements, security documents, guarantees, NDAs, and commercial contracts

Drive standardization of documentation in line with evolving regulatory and business needs

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with RBI regulations, SARFAESI, IBC, Companies Act, and other applicable laws

Act as a key liaison with regulators, auditors, and internal compliance teams

Litigation & Recovery Management

Oversee litigation, recovery proceedings, arbitration, and enforcement actions

Manage external counsels and monitor litigation strategy, timelines, and legal costs

Risk Advisory & Stakeholder Management

Vet commercial contracts and provide practical, business-oriented legal risk mitigation

Partner closely with senior leadership, credit, risk, compliance, and operations teams

Manage relationships with external law firms and legal service providers

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong expertise in commercial lending laws and documentation

Hands-on experience in litigation, recovery, and dispute resolution

Proven capability in contract drafting, vetting, and negotiation

Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills

Strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen

Qualifications & Experience

LLB / LLM from a recognized university

14+ years of post-qualification experience, preferably within BFSI organizations

Prior experience independently managing or leading the legal function for lending businesses
