Our Client is an RBI-licensed financial organization headquartered in Pune, India.

Legal Counsel:

Legal Counsel We are seeking a Legal Counsel with 5+ years of experience to lead and oversee all legal, regulatory, and compliance functions, ensuring strict adherence to RBIs NBFC-AA Directions, the DPDP Act, the IT Act, and other applicable regulatory frameworks. The role requires strong expertise in regulatory interpretation, contract negotiation, data-protection compliance, and operational governance within the Account Aggregator (AA) ecosystem. The Counsel will work closely with product, technology, operations, and business teams to ensure legally compliant workflows, partnerships, and product rollouts.


Key Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including AA service agreements, TSP onboarding contracts, vendor agreements, MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, addendums, amendments, and product-related terms and conditions.

Ensure that all partner and vendor contracts adequately safeguard regulatory obligations and mitigate risk exposure.

Interpret, implement, and monitor compliance with RBIs NBFC-AA Directions, the DPDP Act, the IT Act, and other applicable laws.

Support finance, invoicing, and billing operations.

Manage internal stakeholder coordination, including close collaboration with the Sales team.

Work cross-functionally with product, technology, and operations teams to design workflows compliant with regulatory requirements.


Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor degree in LL.B.

Strong legal drafting, negotiation, and documentation skills.

Solid understanding of RBI regulations and compliance requirements.

Familiarity with the financial ecosystem and the Account Aggregator framework.

In-depth knowledge of the DPDP Act and broader data-protection principles.

Ability to interpret regulations and design practical compliance strategies.

Strong stakeholder-management skills and ability to work cross-functionally. Ability to manage grievance-redressal processes.


Nice-to-Have Skills

Prepare, review, and maintain documentation required for RBI audits, inspections, supervisory queries, and regulatory filings.

Respond to regulatory notices, legal escalations, partner compliance queries, and customer grievances.

Oversee grievance-redressal mechanisms to ensure timely, compliant, and customer-centric resolution aligned with RBI standards.

Periodically review and update internal policies, including those related to HR, information security, data governance, risk management, and operational procedures.
