Role Description

Unison Education and Research Foundation is seeking a full-time Legal Associate - Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) based in Dehradun. The Legal Associate will primarily be responsible for managing and safeguarding the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) portfolio of the Company and its entities. The role involves end-to-end handling of trademarks, copyrights, patents (where applicable), brand protection matters, and IPR enforcement. The incumbent will ensure timely filing, prosecution, renewal, monitoring, and protection of all intellectual property assets of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Handling trademark search, filing, prosecution, opposition, renewal, and registration processes.
• Managing copyright registrations and related documentation.
• Coordinating with patent agents and consultants for patent-related matters (where applicable).
• Monitoring potential infringement and initiating appropriate legal action.
• Drafting and vetting IP-related agreements, including licensing, assignment, NDAs, brand usage agreements, and MoUs.
• Managing IP-related disputes and coordinating with external legal counsels.
• Maintaining and updating the IP portfolio database of the organisation.
• Advising management on IP strategy, brand protection, and compliance matters.
• Liaising with government authorities, IP offices, regulatory bodies, and legal counsels.
• Providing legal support in matters related to brand usage, marketing material clearance, digital content protection, and institutional publications.

Qualifications

• Graduate in Law from a reputed University
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience is a must
• IPR Law skills
• Strong understanding of general law
• Strong drafting, research, and analytical skills
• Knowledge of Indian IP laws and procedures
• Ability to independently manage filings and coordinate with external counsel
• Prior experience in education, corporate, or institutional setup preferred
• Candidates who belong to Uttarakhand or have a plan to stay in Uttarakhand for a longer duration shall only apply.
