LED Display Systems Engineer

Job Title: LED Display Engineer

Location: Your city Remote + onsite as needed

Key Responsibilities

Architect the LED mesh module: LED selection, pixel topology, scan strategy, and mechanical layout.

Design power distribution (busbars/wiring/PCB, voltage drop control, current budget, connector selection, protection).

Design data distribution (receiver card interface, signal integrity, chaining, EMI control, grounding strategy).

Work with/choose LED driver ICs, controller ecosystem (Novastar/Colorlight or equivalent), and receiver card

Ensure brightness calibration, uniformity, and thermal performance at 2800 nits.

Build prototypes, run tests (burn-in, vibration/handling, brightness, refresh/flicker), iterate fast.

Create BOM, wiring diagrams, assembly process, and service documentation.

Coordinate with vendors for LEDs, PCBs/FPCs, connectors, power supplies, and fabrication.

Required Skills & Experience

3+ years hands-on experience in LED display modules (outdoor/transparent/mesh is a plus).

Strong understanding of:

Constant-current LED driving, scan modes, refresh rate, grayscale, PWM

Power design: distribution, fusing, protection, derating, voltage drop calculations

Signal integrity / EMI basics for high-speed LED data lines

Experience with Novastar / Colorlight systems (or similar) including configuration/debug.

Ability to do practical engineering: quick prototyping, soldering, rework, debug with scope/multimeter.

Comfortable producing schematics + layouts (Altium/KiCad) or coordinating with layout engineers.

Nice to Have: Experience building ultra-light displays (drone payload, stage touring, portable signage).
