About the Role

Tapza is building HealthSuite , a set of B2B and consumer-facing applications in healthcare, and EduSuite , a scalable education platform designed to support learning, content delivery, and skill development.

Were looking for a Founding Senior Software Engineer who is backend-first and systems-oriented , with strong ownership over business logic, data models, and scalable system design.

This is a core early role. Youll work closely with the Founder and the Technical Architect to build the backend foundation of Tapzas products and support long-term scale.

What Youll Do

• Design and build scalable, reliable backend systems.

• Translate complex product requirements into clean system designs and data models .

• Design APIs that represent real workflows and business logic .

• Build and manage workflows, state transitions, and lifecycle-driven processes .

• Own backend components end-to-end: design implementation deployment operation.

• Ensure performance, scalability, security, and correctness across core systems.

• Collaborate closely with the Technical Architect on architecture and long-term technical direction.

• Mentor junior engineers and help establish strong backend engineering practices.

Who You Are

• 37+ years of experience as a software engineer, primarily backend-focused .

• Strong fundamentals in system design, data modeling, and business logic .

• Comfortable owning production backend systems .

• Able to reason about trade-offs and make sound engineering decisions.

• Startup mindset: ownership, clarity, bias for action, comfort with ambiguity.

Tech Stack (Secondary to Fundamentals)

Experience with some of the following is helpful:

• Backend: Node.js / Java / Go / Python (or similar)

• Databases: PostgreSQL / MySQL / MongoDB / Redis

• Infra: AWS / GCP, Docker, CI/CD

• APIs: REST, integrations, async processing

Strong fundamentals matter more than specific tools.

Nice to Have

• Working knowledge of modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js, or similar).

• Ability to reason about frontendbackend contracts from a product perspective.

• Experience collaborating closely with frontend-heavy engineers.

• Exposure to full-stack development in early-stage products.

• Experience with domain-heavy or compliance-sensitive systems.
