As a Backend Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Wholesale Credit Risk Technology, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities:

• Provides guidance and manages a team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities to deliver high quality software
• Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration
• Participate in design sessions with fellow programmers, business analysts, Product Owners and other team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solution
• Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Primarily, design and implement secure and robust REST APIs using technologies such as Java Spring Boot and Spring MVC for cloud native micro-service applications 
• Demonstrates overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle with solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
• Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
  Participate in code reviews
• Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. 
• Experience leading technology projects working as a hands-on 14+ years (actively coding) Java Application Development Lead or related role.
• Experience leading technology projects and managing technologists
• Experience with using Cloud computing, micro services, Containers/Dockers/Kuberneters, Kafka in a highly distributed environment
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
• Ability to understand UI  technologies such as JavaScript / React and experience in building enterprise applications
• Proficient in automation, continuous delivery methods and all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Extensive knowledge and experience working in an Agile environment.
• Passionate about learning emerging technologies such as AI/ML and impart learnings in daily work. 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

• In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems 
• Hands on experience with writing functional and regression automated tests to be run as part of the build pipeline.
• Experience working and collaborating with global teams across multiple time zones
• Hands on experience in developing web front ends using HTML / JavaScript / React.
