Boeing India Engineering team is currently looking to hire Lead Software Engineer for Boeing India Engineering (BIE) Software to join their team in Bengaluru, India. As a Software Engineer, you will be part of the Boeing Global Services Training Solutions team, which develops software applications and products that create direct value to its customers. We are looking a software engineer with over 12+ years of experience in the augmented reality and virtual reality domain, preferably within the aviation industry. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of AR/VR, Unity/Unreal technologies, strong leadership skills to guide a multidisciplinary team, and hands-on expertise in programming languages to support and contribute to the coding requirements as necessary

Position Responsibilities:

• Spearhead the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Maintenance and Flight training projects, aligning them with business objectives and customer needs.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (developers, designers, engineers) to steer the product lifecycle.
• Define and prioritize product features based on market research, user feedback, and industry trends.
• Act as an AR/VR, Unity/Unreal subject matter expert, offering mentorship and guidance while translating technical requirements into actionable tasks.
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality Unity/Unreal products, managing risks and expectations across the development cycle.
• Contribute to the Boeing India Engineering team, developing, maintaining, and enhancing aviation software products.
• Define system requirements, actively participating in software development and collaborating with diverse teams across locations.
• Drive Epic/Feature/Story creation and solution design within an Agile setting, fostering effective communication and solution architecture.
• Create and maintain software design/architecture documentation, actively reducing technical debt.
• Collaborate with international teams, promoting knowledge sharing and competency development.
• Recommend system enhancements, research new requirements, and promote capabilities improvement.
• Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree as BASIC QUALIFICATION
• Professional Experience: 12+ years in AR/VR, Unity/Unreal development

• Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Unity/Unreal development using programming languages (C#, C++) and web-based technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript). Knowledge of VR platforms such as Oculus, HTC Vive or PlayStation VR.

• Domain Knowledge: Extensive understanding of AR/VR hardware, software frameworks, and computer graphics principles.
• Leadership Skills: Proven track record in leading successful AR/VR, Unity/Unreal projects, coupled with excellent communication and team management abilities.
• Agile Experience: Proficiency in agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and product management tools (JIRA, Trello, etc.).
• System Engineering Experience: Hands-on involvement in software development and system engineering.

Good to have

• Previous experience with Unity/Unreal or Game development.

• Familiarity with aviation-related systems, regulations, or applications.
• Certifications or specialized training in AR/VR technologies, Unity or Unreal

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor, Master, or equivalent degree preferably in Computer Science or Engineering
• 12+ years of experience years of professional experience in Unity or Unreal development, with a preference for experience in the aviation industry
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly for development, such as C#, C++, Unity, Unreal Engine, and familiarity with web-based technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript).
• Advanced knowledge in Unreal Blueprints and/or Unity Visual Scripting
• Extensive knowledge of AR/VR hardware, software frameworks, and platforms.
• Solid understanding of computer graphics, 3D math, and physics principles.
• Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and product management tools (JIRA, Trello, etc.)
• Proven track record of leading successful software projects from conception to delivery.
• Well versed with game engine workflows.
• Troubleshooting, problem solving, written and oral communication skills are required.

Preferred Skill Set

• DevOps, automation, scripting, CI/CD (Azure CI/CD, C#, PowerShell).
• Experience in airplane simulation, CSF, Realtime, Window32/64, and MS.
• Proficiency in C#, C++
• Familiarity with Game SDK/Framework, Virtual Server

• Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 12 Plus years' related work experience or Master’s Degree with 11+ years of experience with an equivalent combination of education and experience
