Role Overview
We are looking for a Lead Snowflake Data Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Snowflake and the modern data stack to design, build, and optimize scalable data platforms. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys end-to-end ownership, works closely with clients and stakeholders, and thrives in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable, high-performance ETL/ELT data pipelines on the Snowflake Cloud Data Platform.
- Work closely with clients, architects, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into data engineering solutions.
- Mentor and guide a team of data engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices, code quality, and delivery timelines.
- Architect data models, schemas, and data warehouses, implementing Snowflakes best practices for scalability and performance.
- Implement and automate data ingestion using Snowpipe, Streams, and Tasks for real-time and batch data processing.
- Perform query performance optimization using clustering, partitioning, and caching strategies.
- Manage security, access controls, and data governance policies in Snowflake environments.
- Orchestrate workflows using Airflow, DBT, or Matillion and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with DevOps and analytics teams for deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Participate in client meetings and technical discussions, presenting solutions and managing stakeholder expectations effectively.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, including 4+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake Cloud Data Platform.
- Proven experience leading teams of data engineers and managing end-to-end data projects.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and ETL design & optimization.
- Deep understanding of Snowflake components & features:
- SnowSQL, Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks, Time Travel, Zero-Copy Cloning, Query Optimization, Virtual Warehouses, Resource Monitors, Data Sharing, Data Marketplace.
- Experience with AWS (preferred) or other major cloud platforms such as Azure or GCP.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and semi-structured data formats (JSON, Parquet, Avro).
- Experience working in agile environments and using Git-based version control.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client engagement skills.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to drive technical excellence and team collaboration.
Nice to Have
- Snowflake SnowPro Certification (Core / Advanced)
- Experience with real-time or near-real-time pipelines (Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub)
- Exposure to data observability and quality tools (Great Expectations, Monte Carlo, Soda)
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI, Looker, or Tableau
- Experience in consulting or multi-client delivery environments
