Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Power Electronics Engineering Lead will drive the design, development, and optimization of advanced power conversion products for PowerICs. This role involves leading R&D efforts, defining EDA design flows, supporting customer applications, ensuring product validation, and managing the complete product lifecycle. The candidate will collaborate across engineering, operations, and customer teams to deliver high-performance, reliable, and cost-optimized power solutions.
Technical Responsibilities:
Research, design, and develop high-efficiency switching power conversion circuits for PowerICs products. Support applications team in developing converter topologies for compact, efficient AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC, PV inverter, and motor-drive systems.
Develop and maintain complete EDA tool flows for schematic design, simulation, PCB layout, modeling, and validation.
Engage with customer engineering teams to understand requirements and propose optimal design solutions.
Provide fast-turn debug and rework support; maintain a documented library of issues and resolutions
Product Development & Validation:
Lead product testing, debugging, validation, and compliance certification (UL, IEC, EMI/EMC, safety standards).
Establish reliability testing methods including HALT, HASS, thermal cycling, and derating analysis.
Define and guide creation of detailed test plans, validation procedures, and production test criteria.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Operations, Procurement, and Quality teams to improve supply chain, BOM optimization, and manufacturability.
Support NPI (New Product Introduction), pilot builds, production ramp-up, and yield improvement initiatives.
Leadership & Roadmap Responsibilities:
Lead the engineering team to propose product roadmaps and custom solutions aligned with market and customer needs.
Mentor and guide junior engineers through design reviews, simulations, and validation activities.
Education & Experience:
5+ years experience in switching power conversion design and research.
M.Tech/MS/Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
Hands on experience in Power Electronics industry developing chargers, inverters, battery management systems
Advanced Technical Skills (Preferred):
Expertise in EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and compliance testing.
Experience with digital control systems: MCUs, DSPs, FPGAs.
Strong understanding of thermal modelling, heat management, and mechanical constraints in power systems.
Familiarity with PLM systems and structured engineering documentation
