Lead Power BI Developer

We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Lead Power BI App Developer to lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable and user-friendly Power BI applications across the organization. In this role, you will serve as the technical lead for Power BI development, oversee BI architecture, collaborate with business stakeholders, and mentor junior developers to ensure consistent, high-quality deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development and implementation of advanced Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models aligned with business objectives

Architect and design Power BI apps with best practices for usability, performance, scalability, and security

Collaborate with business units to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical specifications, and deliver insightful data visualizations

Own the end-to-end Power BI app lifecycle – from data ingestion and modeling to visual design and deployment

Develop and maintain enterprise-level data models and semantic layers

Write efficient DAX measures and Power Query (M) transformations to support complex business logic

Integrate Power BI apps with other Microsoft and third-party services (e.g., Azure, Teams, SharePoint)

Implement and enforce governance, version control, and deployment strategies for Power BI assets

Lead code reviews, establish development standards, and mentor junior Power BI developers

Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to optimize data pipelines and backend infrastructure

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

5+ years of experience in Power BI development, with at least 2+ years in a lead or senior developer role

Expertise in DAX, Power Query (M), data modeling, and performance tuning

Strong command of SQL and experience working with relational and dimensional databases

Proven experience building Power BI apps and deploying them in enterprise environments

Knowledge of Power BI Service, Power BI Embedded, and Row-Level Security (RLS)

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, source control (e.g., Git), and DevOps practices for BI development

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Microsoft Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, etc.)

Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate or similar certifications

Understanding of Agile/Scrum project methodologies

Experience with integrating APIs or custom visuals in Power BI apps
