Position : Lead Mechanical Engineer


Experience:

B.Tech: 1012 years

M.Tech / MS: 68 years

Location: Bommasandra, Bangalore


Role Overview:

We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to own the complete mechanical lifecycle of the

Muse Ring One (and any future Muse products) from post-industrial design handoff to mass

production, field reliability and leading existing team members and building talent wherever

needed.


The Muse Ring represents an extreme engineering challenge: packing complex sensors, batteries,

and other PCB components into a form factor with zero wasted space. This role requires deep

hands-on experience in miniaturisation, consumer-friendliness understanding, rigid-flex

integration, and high-volume manufacturing. You will be the bridge between Industrial Design

and a shelf-ready product.


Key Responsibilities To lead the team and build capabilities

to achieve below outcomes.

1. Post-Industrial Design Ownership

Take ownership of designs after ID freeze and translate them into engineering-ready mechanical designs

Ensure design intent, aesthetics, ergonomics, and tolerances are preserved during engineering and production for all the SKUs


2. Detailed Design & CAD

Create and own complex, master-model driven 3D CAD assemblies - Design for space-constrained assembly methods

Release manufacturing-ready 2D drawings with strict GD&T, tolerance stack-ups (worst-case and statistical), and critical-to-function dimensions, Tolerance stack-ups, Surface finish specifications, Material and coating callouts

Validate mechanical fit, stack-ups, and assembly clearances for: Sensors, PCBA, batteries, structural adhesives, fasteners etc.


3. Materials, Finishing & Biocompatibility

Define surface finishes (PVD, Anodizing, Epoxy coatings) that balance RF transparency, cosmetic durability, and corrosion resistance against sweat, lotions and other common

chemicals

Collaborate with suppliers to achieve premium aesthetic finishes

Select and validate materials for 24/7 skin contact, ensuring compliance with biocompatibility standards


4. DFM / DFA & Tooling Management

Lead DFM reviews CNC machining, and high-precision plastic molding, MIM etc

Tooling Strategy: Manage the complexity of multi-cavity tools across multiple ring sizes. Optimize family molds vs. discrete tools for cost and yield.


5. Sealing, Reliability & Testing

Define and execute reliability test plans: Drop, crush, chemical resistance (Sanitizers, soaps), and sweat immersion, IP rating.

Lead Failure Analysis (FA) to resolve field failures.


6. Assembly Process & Vendor Management

Develop precision assembly fixtures and curing processes for high-volume manufacturing lines.

Act as the primary technical lead for Manufacturing partners and tooling vendors till Golden samples are finalised and the requirements are handed over to supply chain team.


7. Cross-Functional Leadership

Work closely with electronics team to ensure mechanical materials do not de-tune/interfere with electronic components, work with them to manage heat dissipation in a sealed, battery-

powered device.

Mentor junior engineers and establish documentation standards


Required Qualifications

B.Tech (Mechanical) with 1012 years of experience OR M.Tech / MS (Mechanical) with

68 years.

Experience shipping Consumer Electronics (Wearables, Wearables, or Mobile Phones etc

or any other electronics product) to mass production.

Deep knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and metrology.

Experience managing Cosmetic Criteria (A-surface definitions) for premium products.

Knowledge and experience of working with vendors for moulding, casting, machining,

tooling processes.

CAD: SolidWorks / NX (Surface modeling proficiency required).


Preferred / Nice-to-Have

Specific experience designing small consumer products (due to similar density/size

constraints).

Understanding of medical device regulations.
