Role Objective | The Lead HSEF Specialist in a chemical industry is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of Health, Safety, Environment & Fire within the organization. This role involves designing, implementing, and continuously improving HSEF policies, procedures, and practices to maintain a safe working environment and ensure regulatory compliance. |

Responsibilities | 1. Develop and Implement HSEF Policies and Procedures: Create, update, and implement HSEF policies and procedures that align with local, state, and federal regulations. Ensure policies are communicated and understood throughout the organization. 2. Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and stay up-to-date with environmental, health, and safety regulations applicable to the chemical industry. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory bodies. 3. Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and assess the level of risk. Implement measures to control and mitigate identified risks. 4. Safety Training and Education: Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for employees on safety procedures, chemical handling, emergency response, and other relevant topics. Ensure that employees are properly trained and certified for their specific roles. 5. Incident Management and Investigation: Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses. Implement corrective actions and preventative measures to prevent reoccurrence. 6. Emergency Response Planning: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, chemical spill response, and coordination with local emergency services. 7. Pollution Control and Waste Management: Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste. Implement pollution control measures to minimize environmental impact. 8. Audit and Inspections: Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with HSEF policies and regulations. Coordinate external audits by regulatory agencies and work towards maintaining a positive regulatory relationship. 9. HSEF Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to HSEF activities, incidents, training, and permits. Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies. 10. Continuous Improvement: Monitor HSEF performance metrics and develop strategies for improvement. Implement best practices and technologies to enhance HSEF performance. 11. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including management, operations, and maintenance teams, to ensure EHS considerations are integrated into business processes. |
