Job Description
Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As a Lead Engineer-CAE at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, your primary responsibilities will include the development and optimisation of full vehicle finite element (FE) models, specifically focusing on Crash, Durability, and NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) simulations. You will leverage tools such as Lsdyna and Nastran to execute Design Verification Plans (DVPs), ensuring that all models align with performance specifications and safety standards.
Furthermore, you will demonstrate a strong capability in Multi-Disciplinary Optimization (MDO), employing both Design of Experiments (DOE) and non-DOE methodologies for global and local DVPs. Your expertise will play a crucial role in interpreting simulation results, crafting proposals for validation purposes, and driving optimised performance while achieving weight reduction for designated load cases.
Your technical acumen will extend to employing various optimisation techniques, including Topology, Topometry, Sizing, and Shape Optimisation using advanced platforms such as Genesis and Optistruct. You are expected to be proficient in creating morphable models and executing quick concept morphing, enabling seamless optimisation processes.
Additionally, you will have familiarity with substructure modelling, as well as the incorporation of AI/Machine Learning and low-fidelity modelling techniques to enhance simulation accuracy and efficiency. A vital component of this role will be mentoring one or two recent graduates in executing Crash, Durability, and NVH DVP simulations, thereby fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional development within the department.
Experience
To thrive in this role, you should possess between 6-8 years of relevant experience in the automotive sector, with a solid grounding in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) principles. A strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering fundamentals is essential, along with demonstrated competence in managing Global and Local DVPs across Crash, Durability, and NVH domains.
Your knowledge base should include advanced methodologies such as non-linear dynamic analysis, explicit FE-analysis, normal modal analysis (SOL103), dynamic stiffness measurements, and an understanding of structure-borne and air-borne noise. Additionally, familiarity with static analysis (SOL101), oil canning phenomena, and static stiffness assessments will be fundamental to your success.
Industry Preferred
You will be working in the automotive industry, a field that is rapidly evolving with advancements in technology and sustainability. Your role will significantly contribute to the development of high-performance vehicles that meet stringent safety and regulatory standards. The automotive sector values innovation, and your work will directly impact vehicle design and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
A Master's degree in Technology (M.Tech) is preferred, ideally from prestigious institutions such as the IITs or any top-tier university, with a minimum GATE score surpassing 90%. This educational background will ensure you possess the analytical skills and technical knowledge essential for this advanced engineering role.
General Requirements
In addition to your technical expertise, you will need strong communication skills to articulate complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Excellent negotiation capabilities and interpersonal skills will be critical in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Moreover, demonstrating motivational capability will foster a productive work environment and drive team objectives forward.
