Job Description

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  1. The Lead Engineer-CAE will be responsible for creating full vehicle runnable crash finite element models and simulating comprehensive crash tests that encompass frontal, side, rear, and pedestrian impacts. Utilizing advanced computer-aided engineering (CAE) software such as LSDYNA, Hypermesh, Lsprepost, and Primer, you will conduct detailed simulations to assess vehicle crash performance across multiple scenarios.
  2. Moreover, a strong understanding of vehicle crash behaviour is essential. You will work towards optimising designs through modifications that improve crash performance while minimising mass. In this role, you will suggest design improvements, leading the iterative processes necessary to transition designs from 'red' to 'green' in performance metrics, all while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  3. This position also involves mentoring newly graduated Post Graduate Engineering Trainees (PGETs) in executing crash Design Verification Plan (DVP) simulations, thus fostering growth and development within the team. Your knowledge will extend to crash test data analysis, enabling you to identify opportunities for enhancing the correlation between CAE predictions and physical tests.
  4. In addition, you will play a key role in project planning, prioritising tasks, allocating resources, and ensuring adherence to project timelines. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills will support your ability to motivate team members and stakeholders.
  5. You will also be expected to possess a foundational knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and strong mechanical engineering fundamentals. Expertise in crash analysis related to various crash standards across the US, Europe, Australia, and India is essential.
  6. Finally, a deep understanding of non-linear, dynamic, explicit finite element analysis, time step considerations, and other crucial aspects such as materials, elements, mass scaling, and energy balance will be required. Proficiency in debugging dyna decks is also advantageous.

Experience

We are seeking candidates with 7 to 10 years of dedicated experience in crash simulations, specifically strong familiarity with tools such as LSDYNA, Hypermesh, Primer, D3plot, and Lsprepost. Demonstrated expertise in leveraging these tools to produce reliable simulation results is essential for success in this role.

Industry Preferred

The preferred industry experience is in the automotive sector. Candidates with a background in automotive development, specifically related to vehicle safety and crashworthiness, will find their skills highly valuable in meeting the demands of this role.

Qualifications

The ideal qualifications for this position include an M.Tech or M.E in Machine Design, preferably from prestigious institutions such as IIT or other reputed engineering colleges. Additionally, a B.E in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum First Class is required. Candidates with strong academic backgrounds and a solid theoretical foundation in engineering principles will be best suited for this role.

General Requirements

(1) Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial
(2) Capable of discussing and presenting analytical results effectively with design teams
(3) Strong report writing capabilities
(4) Collaborative team player, willing to engage with others
(5) Adherence to processes and guidelines is essential
(6) Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges
(7) Strong planning and project execution skills, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
