Lead – Energy Management Systems (EMS)

Role Objective

Build Waarees EMS business as a standalone, scalable Product and P&L, enabling differentiation across utility-scale, C&I, and hybrid BESS projects through in-house development, white-labeling, or a hybrid strategy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product & Technology Leadership

• Define EMS vision aligned with Waarees BESS roadmap
• Develop 3-year EMS product & monetization roadmap
• Architect EMS from cell pack PCS grid
• Define functional scope:
• Battery dispatch & optimization
• Grid compliance & scheduling
• Degradation-aware control
• Cybersecurity & cloud architecture
• Lead development of:
• Core EMS engine
• Dashboards & analytics
• APIs for OEMs, utilities & traders

3. White-Label & Partnerships

• Evaluate global EMS vendors for:
• White-label
• Source-code access
• IP ownership terms
• Negotiate licensing & tech-transfer models
• Integrate EMS with Waaree BESS hardware stack

4. Execution & Deployment

• Lead site commissioning & performance testing
• Ensure compliance with:
• Indian, EU, US, Australian grid codes
• DISCOM / SLDC / NLDC requirements
• Own EMS uptime, SLAs, and performance KPIs

5. Commercial Enablement

• Support EMS sales with:
• Tech-commercial proposals
• Use-case simulations
• Help create differentiated bids using EMS capability
• Enable recurring EMS revenue streams

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience

• 610 years in EMS / BESS / Power Systems / Controls / Grid Tech
• Experience with:
• Utility-scale BESS or hybrid projects
• EMS, SCADA, PCS or grid software
• Exposure to product development, not just project execution

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of:
• Battery behavior & degradation
• Power electronics & grid interfaces
• Optimization algorithms
• Familiar with:
• Python / C++ / Java (any one)
• Cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
• Cybersecurity for OT systems

Mindset

• Builder, not a manager-by-title
• Comfortable with ambiguity & zero-to-one
• Willing to get hands dirty in early stages
