Job Title – Lead - Software Engineering

The Purpose of This Role

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will focus on mainframe development using Cobol, working directly with both technical and business stakeholders to translate a vision and designs into sustainable business solutions. You will be a part of the implementation team in India and would be responsible for technical and domain development always ensuring quality.

This Lead Engineer will play a Mainframe Developer role in the SPS conversion and implementation of WS client data The SPS Data Conversion Mainframe Developer is a key member of an integrated implementation team responsible for the successful transition of conversion data for SPS plan implementations.  While adhering to established processes and procedures, the SPS Data Conversion Mainframe Developer will work closely with all conversion partners to convert, audit, validate, reconcile, and load conversion data.

Responsibilities of the role includes

• Ability to understand and analyze the functional requirements

• Work on data conversion projects

• Auditing of output and reports

• Close interaction with the project team members

• Peer review and testing.

Responsibilities of the role includes

• Interact with business and technical partners to design, develop, and test software applications and systems changes that address business needs. 

• Able to work collaboratively with offshore associates; aiding, direction and coordination etc. to ensure project success

• Responsible for migrating software code deliverables and technical solutions through the development, test and production environments.

• Be accountable for supporting technical solutions through the Systems Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing and Implementation Phases. 

• Participate in quality control measures including peer code reviews. 

• Manage individual tasks and deliverables to complete projects on schedule.

• Participant effectively in meetings, calls, etc. in a wide variety of roles ranging from facilitator to requestor, to solutions coordinator, to consultant.

The Skills that are Key to this role

• 5 to 9 years of work experience in Cobol, DB2, JCL, VSAM

• Displays a full understanding of the software development process including analysis, design, coding, system and user testing, problem resolution and planning.

• Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups, both in person and virtually, in a constructive and collaborative manner

• Ability to quickly learn, adapt and strive to meet the needs of a fast paced, changing environment

• Ability to navigate organizationally to accomplish tasks

• Ability to work on multiple efforts simultaneously

Required Technical skills

• Experience in Mainframe development using COBOL

• Knowledge of DB2, JCL, VSAM

• Exposure to Distributed Technology like JAVA, Angular will be an added advantage.

• Knowledge of SQL, File-aid, SPUFI and Platinum is preferred.

• Domain knowledge of Retirement Services is a plus

• Experience in Agile development methodology and Jira/Git Stash tool

The Data Conversion and Implementation team (DCI) provides on-boarding services for corporate clients who engage Fidelity for the management of their various retirements, equity, benefit and pension service needs. Whether clients are brand new to Fidelity or subscribe to any of our offerings, the DCI team works closely with them in transferring their participant demographic and financial data, testing it thoroughly, and eventually putting it into production on Fidelity’s system.

The Expertise We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer science or any other discipline

• 5 to 9 years of experience in mainframe/Cobol development role

Location : Bangalore

Shift timings: 11:00 am – 8:00 pm
