Job Description

Role Overview

We are looking for a Partner - Financial Services Practice for our client, a boutique Law Firm, based in Mumbai. You will be responsible for building and scaling a compliant financial services business. While an existing book of business is not required, the role demands strong business development acumen, relationship-building capability, and the ability to develop a sustainable book of clients and partners over time, in line with SEBI and RBI guidelines.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth (Core Focus)

  • Drive new business acquisition across investment and financial products
  • Build long-term relationships with clients, distributors, fund houses, banks, and NBFCs
  • Develop and execute go-to-market and partnership strategies
  • Gradually create and scale a book of business through compliant sourcing and advisory
  • Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities within regulatory frameworks


Funds & Financial Products

  • Promote and distribute Mutual Funds, AIFs, PMS, and other approved investment products
  • Support onboarding of clients and partners in compliance with SEBI/AMFI norms
  • Work closely with product and investment teams to position offerings effectively


Regulatory & Compliance Alignment

  • Ensure adherence to SEBI, RBI, AMFI, AML, KYC, FATCA guidelines
  • Stay updated with regulatory changes impacting business development
  • Coordinate with compliance teams to ensure smooth audits and reporting


Partner & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a trusted partner to internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Represent the organization in industry forums, client meetings, and partner discussions
  • Strengthen brand presence and credibility in the financial ecosystem


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Law
  • 10-15 years of experience
  • AMFI certification (mandatory for mutual fund-related activities)
  • Strong understanding of SEBI & RBI regulatory environment
  • Proven experience in business development, partnerships, or relationship management


Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong BD muscle and hunter mindset & Existing book is NOT mandatory
  • Ability to build a book from scratch over time
  • Deep relationship-building and negotiation skills
  • Commercial acumen with compliance-first thinking
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
