About The Role

We are seeking a passionate Language Lead (Micro Drama) at Kuku TV , with a strong focus on original story conceptualisation and scripting for ultra-short, high-engagement video stories. The ideal candidate excels at creating memorable characters, emotionally resonant plots, and addictive narrative hooks that drive rapid, repeatable consumption. You will guide the transition from script to screen, ensuring quality at each step of production and post-production, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to craft content that resonates with digital audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the ideation, plot development, episodic structure, and scriptwriting for micro drama series (typically 1-2 minute episodes) that optimize for binge-watching and social media engagement.
• Pitch and refine story concepts, deeply rooted in genre conventions yet offering fresh takes and compelling hooks tailored to short-form video.
• Direct the scripting process, focusing on tight storytelling, powerful emotional arcs, impactful dialogues, and efficient cliffhangers.
• Supervise video shoots and post-production, ensuring seamless translation from script to screen including shot composition, acting, visual pace, editing, and sound design.
• Collaborate closely with the creative team (writers, directors, editors, and designers) to ensure each micro drama episode is visually and narratively effective.
• Oversee localization/adaptation for regional audiences as needed, ensuring cultural and contextual relevance.
• Conduct rapid iterative reviews of script and video content based on audience analytics and engagement metrics.
• Maintain high standards for originality, compliance, and creative innovation throughout all stages of content creation.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Media, Communications, Filmmaking, ad films or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in scripted fiction content, with a demonstrable track record in micro drama, vertical short series, or related digital storytelling formats.
• Advanced skills in concept creation, story structuring, and crisp dialogue writing specifically for short-form video.
• Experience supervising or directing video shoots and workflow in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
• Proficiency with scriptwriting software and video editing tools (e.g., Final Draft, Adobe Premiere, CapCut).
• Deep understanding of social media, digital video platforms, and current micro content trends.
• Strong attention to visual detail, pacing, and emotional impact.
• Ability to effectively lead and inspire a creative team, while managing deadlines and multiple projects.
