L2 Data Center Network Planning Engineer
Experience: 3 6 years
Role Overview
The L2 Planning Engineer is responsible for detailed network planning, scalable design, and development of standardized configuration templates for Cisco Nexus and ACIbased TELCO Data Centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform capacity and scale planning for DC fabrics (ports, uplinks, spines).
- Design ACI tenant segmentation, VRF, BD, and EPG models from a planning perspective.
- Prepare HLDs, LLDs, BoQs, and expansion MOPs.
- Design, standardize, and validate device-level and fabric-level configuration templates for Cisco Nexus (NX-OS) and ACI.
- Use Python scripting to support template generation, validation, and reuse.
- Plan inter-DC connectivity, redundancy, and resiliency models.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders on hardware and fabric planning.
- Participate in design reviews and change impact assessments.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Cisco Nexus (NX-OS) and ACI architecture.
- Experience with VXLAN, BGP, OSPF, vPC, ECMP (design level).
- Hands-on experience in DC expansion and planning activities.
- Proficiency in Python for automation-assisted planning.
- Strong understanding of JSON and XML, particularly in ACI configuration models.
- Ability to translate service demand into scalable, template-driven network designs.
- CCNP Data Center / Enterprise or equivalent preferred.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or Telecommunications.
