Job Title: Kong Lead

Location: Greater Noida and Hyderabad

Overview

Lead API & Integration Developer with deep expertise in Kong API Gateway and hands on experience across multiple API management, integration, and microservices technologies. Experience in design, architecture, and governance of enterprise-scale API ecosystems while mentoring developers.

Key Responsibilities

Good understanding of architecture, design, and delivery of API solutions using Kong Gateway (OSS/Enterprise).

Define API standards, governance models, and best practices across the organization.

Design and implement API integrations across diverse platforms: REST, GraphQL, event-driven architectures, and ESB/iPaaS tools.

Develop and optimize custom Kong plugins using Lua or Go, improving performance, security, and observability.

Guide the transition to microservices-based architectures, ensuring scalability, reliability, and reusability.

Collaborate with cross-functional teamsDevOps, Security, Product, Cloudto define integration patterns and API lifecycle processes.

Perform advanced troubleshooting on API performance, routing, logging, and security issues.

Mentor junior developers and contribute to technical design reviews, code standards, and knowledge sharing.

Required Skills & Experience

710+ years of experience in API development, integration engineering, or backend development.

Kong Certification

Strong hands on experience with Kong Gateway, Admin API, and plugin development.

Solid understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).

Proven experience with multiple API & integration technologies such as:

Apigee, Mulesoft, WSO2, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway

iPaaS/ESB platforms (Boomi, Dell, Informatica, Tibco, IBM)

Event-driven systems (Kafka, SNS/SQS, EventBridge)

Deep knowledge of API security standardsOAuth2, JWT, mTLS, rate limiting, throttling.

Strong understanding of CI/CD practices, Git, automated pipelines, and DevOps workflows.

Proficiency in developing backend or integration logic using Go, Lua, Python, Java, or Node.js.

Good to Have

Experience with Kong Enterprise features (Dev Portal, RBAC, analytics).

Familiarity with service mesh architectures (Kuma, Istio).

Cloud architecture exposure (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Experience leading distributed engineering teams.
