Role Overview

Were looking for a Junior Backend Developer who is serious about backend engineering and eager to grow fast.

This role is open to freshers and early-career developers, but candidates must have strong foundational knowledge and hands-on practice in backend concepts such as APIs, databases, caching, and deployments.

Youll work closely with senior engineers to build scalable backend systems powering ZyNerds web and mobile platforms.

What Youll Do

• Build and maintain REST APIs for web & mobile applications
• Design and implement backend business logic using Ruby on Rails
• Write and manage database schemas and migrations (PostgreSQL)
• Work with caching systems like Redis to improve performance
• Debug production issues and improve system reliability
• Participate in deployments and infrastructure workflows
• Collaborate with frontend, mobile, and product teams
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-structured backend code

What Were Looking For (Must Have)

• At least 1 year of hands-on backend experience (internships, academic projects, freelance, or personal projects acceptable)
• Strong understanding of REST API design principles
• Good knowledge of database management, especially PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Understanding of caching concepts and performance optimization basics
• Familiarity with code deployment workflows
• Proficiency with Git and version control practices
• Good problem-solving and debugging skills
• Strong ownership mindset and willingness to learn quickly
• Ability to work full-time from our Chennai office

Good to Have

• Experience with Ruby on Rails or any backend framework
• Exposure to AWS or any cloud platform
• Basic knowledge of Docker or containerization
• Understanding of backend system architecture basics
