IT002 SAP S/4HANA PP Consultant

Role purpose

Design, configuration, and support of SAP S/4HANA Production Planning and manufacturing execution processes for a solar panel manufacturing plant, ensuring reliable planning and high-throughput shopfloor execution.

Key responsibilities (SAP PP)

• Run requirement workshops with Planning, Production, Quality, Maintenance, and IT; document AS-IS/TO-BE, functional design, and fit-to-standard for S/4HANA PP.
• Configure PP planning and execution: demand management inputs, MRP parameters, planned orders, production orders, confirmations, GI/backflush, GR, scrap/rework, and exception handling.
• Define and govern PP master data: BOM, routing/rate routing, work centers, production versions, scheduling parameters, and production-relevant material master settings.
• Drive cross-module alignment: PPMM (staging and component availability), PPQM (in-process checks, NCR/rework), PPFI/CO (manufacturing postings, variances, month-end).
• Lead testing (unit/SIT/UAT), defect triage, cutover, and hypercare; create SOPs and train planners and shopfloor roles.
• Understand MES core functions in a solar module plant: line dispatching/operation sequencing, operator prompts, machine/PLC events, labor tracking, WIP tracking, nonconformance/rework loops, and real-time production reporting.
• Implement traceability/genealogy: capture material and process genealogy (e.g., lot/batch/serial capture for key components and finished modules), enforce scan points, and define data retention and audit requirements.
• Master data alignment: synchronize materials, BOM/routing (or operation lists), work centres/resources, production versions, and sometimes characteristics/spec limits to MES.
• Order integration: send planned/production orders (and changes) from SAP to MES; manage order release logic and ensure dispatch lists are accurate and timely.
• Execution feedback: receive confirmations from MES (operation completion, quantities, time, scrap/rework, reason codes), and post required goods movements (component consumption/backflush and FG/SFG receipts) in SAP.
• Support high-volume discrete manufacturing for modules/panels: multi-level BOM staging, fast confirmations, controlled backflush, scrap/rework capture, and tight material availability.
• Enable end-to-end traceability at critical points (incoming to assembly to finished goods), ensuring that quality holds/release rules are reflected consistently in SAP and MES.

Required skills & experience

• Strong hands-on SAP S/4HANA PP configuration and production execution knowledge in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of MES concepts and shopfloor processes, including traceability, WIP, downtime, and nonconformance management.
• Experience in SAPMES integration projects (interface mapping, testing, cutover, hypercare) and cross-functional coordination with production/IT/automation teams.
• Strong documentation skills: functional specs, interface specs, test scripts, SOPs, and training materials.
