Job Description: AGILE Coach

The Markets Operations Technology group develop and implement a wide range of applications that support the Operations groups that are core to the success of the Markets business. They have significant impact across the lifecycle of a trade. We partner extensively with a range of internal stakeholders including product aligned Middle Office groups, Settlements, Margin, Asset Servicing, Listed Derivative & Commodities Operations.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced coach to help transition our existing work practices to fully embracing AGILE methodology, from the top down. The AGILE coach will mentor and guide our employees in how to figure out the best solutions for their specific departmental challenges. This person will analyze our organization’s existing infrastructure and implement improvements to help streamline processes and create efficiencies. Ultimately, the AGILE coach will play a key role in long-term strategy across the business, helping our teams deliver better products in a faster, more efficient manner.

Objectives of this role

  • Work with project teams to analyze current systems and processes and design a strategy for adopting agile best practices
  • Guide teams in how to stay on track with agile techniques, fine-tuning their approach to ensure that overall strategy is being met
  • Lead agile workshops for developer and functional teams, as well as for key stakeholders
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, setting goals and milestones and assigning responsibility
  • Drive cultural change by championing an agile mindset, and ensure the organization is adhering to industry best practices

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate learning and development among employees through individual and team coaching
  • Coach senior managers in agile practices to ensure adoption of best practices from the top down
  • Design and lead workshops on the pragmatics of Lean-Agile values, Agile principles, practices and overall operating model across the organization
  • Influence process execution by guiding product owners and mentoring team members, Drive continuous process improvement strategies enabling efficient, effective, sustainable and measurable delivery
  • Understanding of Citi’s risk goal to coach teams to reduce through test automation, minimizing technical debt and increasing quality
  • Report on patterns and anti-patterns in intra-team agile dynamics, Identify patterns for reinforcement and opportunities for team growth.
  • Champion the use of metrics and other objective measures by teams
  • Establish feedback loops enabling trust, psychological safety, transparency and customer feedback
  • Collaborate with our client organizations to adopt sustainable Lean-Agile capabilities and processes
  • Undertake daily follow-ups with individual team members to ensure projects are on track and goals are being met
  • Maintain objectivity regarding issues and how to troubleshoot them by applying agile principles
  • Hold stand-up meetings with cross-functional teams to review project status
  • Support teams in determining resource allocations to maintain agile practices and ensure smooth project delivery

Required skills and qualifications

  • 10+ years working in an agile culture with deep understanding of Scrum, Kanban and Lean Agile frameworks
  • 5+ years working in an agile environment as a coach
  • Experience with large-scale enterprise agile transformation with demonstrated experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or other scaling frameworks and deep understanding of agile values and principles
  • Track record of implementing agile techniques in different work cultures and environments
  • Experience with agile testing and technical engineering techniques (TDD, BDD) and DevSecOps tools
  • Strong skills for leading, educating, and coaching
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Scrum Master and Product Owner certifications
  • Agile Coach certifications
