Role Overview:

As a Licensing Lead, you will play a critical role in supporting technology companies and IP stakeholders on licensing, litigation, and innovation-driven decisions. You will lead a small team, manage complex licensing projects end-to-end, and work closely with technologists, licensing experts, and corporate clients on cutting-edge technologies and standards.

This role offers the opportunity to work with leading global technology corporations, contribute to high-impact IP strategy engagements, and help evolve and scale the licensing vertical at Hourglass.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of 13 Associates, ensuring high-quality delivery across licensing and litigation support engagements
• Manage licensing projects end-to-end, from scoping and planning through execution and final delivery
• Support corporations and IP counsel on licensing, monetization, and analytics initiatives
• Run market and standards-driven campaigns to identify potential licensees, products, and use cases
• Prepare client-ready, high-quality licensing deliverables, including: Patentproduct mapping, Claim Charts and EOUs, Infringement and essentiality analysis, Damage calculations, and royalty/earnings models
• Work extensively on SEP-related projects across standards and ecosystems such as:
• 3GPP, ETSI, IEEE (Wi-Fi), RFCs
• Video codecs, Bluetooth, and related technologies
• Collaborate closely with technologists to understand and apply complex technical concepts to IP analysis
• Proactively identify problems, propose solutions, and drive continuous improvement through independent thinking
• Contribute to the evolution of the licensing practice by:
• Introducing automation and process improvements
• Building macros, dashboards, and enhanced reporting frameworks
• Exploring and applying AI/ML tools where relevant

Desired Skillset:

• Strong ability to quickly understand and analyse complex, cutting-edge technologies, particularly in hi-tech and telecom domains
• Hands-on experience with telecom and connectivity standards such as 3GPP, ETSI, IEEE Wi-Fi, RFCs, video codecs, Bluetooth, etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (mandatory), with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical and IP concepts
• Strong project ownership mindset with a focus on quality, accuracy, and timelines
• Ability to think independently and in a team to understand problems & suggest solutions

Education/Professional Qualification and Work Experience:

• Bachelors/Masters degree in Electrical, Electronics, Communication, and Computer Science
• IP Experience: 3-6 years
