Role Overview

If you want to work with a group of sharp, driven investors to identify and back the next breakout Indian startups, this role is for you.


As an Associate Investments at DeVC, you will help us find exceptional founders early, understand markets deeply, spot future trendlines, and support companies as they scale from scrappy zero-to-one startups into enduring businesses.


You will operate across the full investment lifecycle - from thesis building and sourcing to diligence, deal closing, and portfolio support. This is not a back-office role. You will represent DeVC in founder conversations, build sector conviction, and develop real investment judgment.

Key Responsibilities


1. Thesis Building & Market Research


Strong investing starts with strong thinking.

  • Conduct extensive primary and secondary research to identify attractive sectors and sub-sectors.
  • Study global market trends and translate relevant insights to the Indian context.
  • Build structured investment theses and continuously refine them through market feedback.
  • Map ecosystems key companies, operators, angels, domain experts.
  • Identify high-potential operators you would back if they start up in the future.


We expect you to develop points of view not just process data.


2. Deal Sourcing & Ecosystem Coverage


Great investments rarely come from cold inbound alone.


  • Proactively source founders in priority sectors.
  • Build deep networks with operators, angels, founders, and domain experts.
  • Represent DeVC as a first point of contact in founder meetings.
  • Engage actively in founder communities, demo days, and ecosystem forums.
  • Maintain high-quality CRM discipline and pipeline tracking.

3. Investment Evaluation & Deal Execution


Conviction requires rigor.

  • Lead first-level evaluation of inbound opportunities.
  • Conduct deep-dive diligence:
  • Market sizing & competitive analysis
  • Customer/reference conversations
  • Business model & GTM evaluation
  • Financial modeling & unit economics
  • Prepare clear, structured IC memos with strong recommendations.
  • Assist in deal negotiation (valuation, terms, structuring).
  • Support term sheet preparation and coordinate financial, legal, and accounting diligence.
  • Work closely with founders through closing.


You should be comfortable getting into the weeds from cap tables to product architecture.


4. Portfolio Support & Founder Partnership


Investment doesnt end at the wire transfer.


  • Assist senior team members in portfolio management.
  • Help track performance through monthly MIS and metrics reviews.
  • Support Annual Operating Plan preparation.
  • Participate selectively in board meetings.
  • Help founders think through key strategic decisions (GTM, hiring, pricing, fundraising).
  • Support follow-on fundraising - pitch refinement, financial projections, narrative building.
  • Identify potential senior hires for portfolio companies.
  • Enable business development through ecosystem connections.

What Were Looking For :

Experience (25 years)


  • Background in consulting, VC, or high-ownership startup roles.
  • Pre-MBA product/technology exposure or operating experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience in early-stage SaaS, developer tools, vertical SaaS, fintech, AI/ML infra, or similar sectors is preferred.
  • MBA preferred but not mandatory.


We particularly value candidates who have:


  • Built or scaled something.
  • Worked closely with founders.
  • Demonstrated compounding responsibility.
