Project Overview

This internship supports the implementation of a large-scale initiative to empower 20,000 Community Health Workers (CHWs) across Maharashtra and Telangana to deliver health promotion messaging using WhatsApp-based digital tools to youth population to improve awareness on Tuberculosis and mobilize them for volunteering activities.

Location: New Delhi, India

Duration: 3–6 months

Reports to: Project Lead - TB

Learning Goals

  • Gain hands-on experience in public health program implementation, especially in TB control.
  • Gain exposure to project management of a multi-stakeholder public health project
  • Understand the design and deployment of digital health tools for community engagement.
  • Learn about behavior change communication (BCC), volunteer mobilization, and monitoring & evaluation (M&E) frameworks.
  • Develop skills in stakeholder coordination, content adaptation, and field-level operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and adaptation of health promotion content for WhatsApp dissemination in multiple languages (Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Urdu).
  • Assist in coordinating project activities including training sessions and webinars for CHWs and district officers.
  • Provide support for data collection and monitoring.
  • Contribute to the design and rollout of community outreach activities including volunteer recruitment strategies via the MyBharat portal.
  • Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of CHW performance and community engagement metrics.
  • Assist in documentation efforts including slide decks, reports, video storytelling, scientific publication drafting, and audit-ready reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Health, Social Work, Development Studies, Communications, or related fields.
  • Strong interest in TB elimination, digital health, and community-based interventions.
  • Familiarity with WhatsApp-based communication tools and social media platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one regional language (Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, or Urdu) is desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary team.
