Team - News Corp Infrastructure Operations & Engineering

Our Infrastructure and Data team in India is staffed by 225 people currently and engaged in
Global Infrastructure Operations and Engineering Support spanning technology stacks which
include Platform Operations, Compute, Network, Database and Enterprise support for more
than 10 News Corp affiliates spread across the globe.
What we’re looking for from you:
● You already possess basic knowledge of one or more IT Infrastructure components
through your college education, external training courses, self learning or a
combination of these.
● You have a keen desire to learn and work in backend infrastructure technologies and
are willing to work in a rotating shift model which provides 24 x 7 coverage to our
business partners and affiliates.
● You are keen to learn more about Engineering practices used in the Organisation and
your ability to settle in the environment quicker.
● You will be expected to learn quickly all technologies used in a particular domain
which could be one of Platform Operations, Compute or Database
● You will be expected to showcase incremental improvements towards your learning
and development through self-documentation or any related visualisation
techniques.
● You will be expected to work 3 days a week in the office and 2 days remotely. You
will be complying with the cadences set for all the team members.

● You will be expected to exhibit excellent soft skills during the course of the
internship.

Roles & Responsibilities
You’ll be working in an environment with fully functional agile teams. During the training
window, you will be assigned mentors/ trainers who will incrementally access your
capability.
● A solid understanding / willingness to learn and master core IT Infrastructure
technologies and strengthening a specific domain skill set in the training period.
● Build the ability to work as a team player.
● A willingness to broaden your knowledge by learning new skills, tools and
approaches
● Be ready to showcase your skills and the learnings during the training window in
form interviews.

Requirements - ComputeOps
Educational Qualification (Minimum):
Successful completion of undergraduate education in one of the following:
● BE / BTech or equivalent
● BCA / MCA/ BSc/ Msc (Computer Science / IT)
Technical Requisites (Mandatory):
● Completed relevant coursework, certification, or academic projects in
Cloud / AWS fundamentals
● Basic understanding of:
○ Linux/Windows fundamentals (commands, file systems,
permissions)
○ Cloud concepts (compute, storage, networking basics)

Programming & Automation Exposure (Basic Level):
● Terraform: awareness of Infrastructure-as-Code concepts
● Python: basic scripting (loops, functions, simple automation)
● YAML: ability to read and modify configuration files
Experience Level:
● 0–1 years of experience
● Internships, lab work, academic projects, or self-learning projects are
acceptable
Desired Attributes:
● Strong learning mindset and willingness to upskill
● Ability to follow documentation and standard operating procedures
● Basic problem-solving and troubleshooting approach
● Good communication and collaboration skills

Technical requirements: ComputeOps
Operating Systems (Foundational): [Must Have]
● Basic understanding of Windows Server and Linux
● Familiarity with file systems, services, users, permissions, and basic troubleshooting
● Ability to follow SOPs and perform routine operational tasks
Identity & Access Management (Awareness Level): [Must Have]
● Basic understanding of Active Directory concepts
○ Users, groups, OUs, Group Policy (high-level)
● Awareness of authentication and authorization principles

Cloud Fundamentals (AWS Preferred): [Must Have]
● Basic knowledge of core AWS services, such as:
○ EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Security Groups
● Understanding of cloud concepts: regions, availability zones, scaling, and cost
awareness
● Exposure through labs, coursework, or certifications is acceptable
Infrastructure as Code (Exposure Level): [Good to Have]
● Basic understanding of Terraform
○ Concept of IaC, providers, state files, and simple modules
● Ability to read and make minor changes to existing Terraform code
Programming & Scripting (Basic): [Good to Have]
● Python fundamentals:
○ Variables, loops, functions, basic scripts
● Ability to understand and modify simple automation scripts
Configuration & Markup Languages: [Good to Have]
● YAML basics:
○ Syntax, indentation, and usage in configuration files
○ Exposure to CI/CD or infrastructure configuration files is a plus

Version Control: [Good to Have]
● Basic understanding of Git / GitHub
○ Clone, pull, commit, push
○ Understanding of repositories and branches

DevOps & Automation Awareness
● High-level understanding of CI/CD concepts.
● Awareness of automation and monitoring in modern infrastructure environments

Security Awareness (Basic)
● Understanding of basic security concepts:
○ Least privilege, patching, access control
● Awareness of compliance-sensitive environments is a plus

Common Attributes:
● Excellent written and Oral communication skills.
● Analytical and critical thinking skills.
● Understanding of ITIL and Agile methodologies and how the Infrastructure
Operations works.
● Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
● Ability to work in a team.
● Good observation skills and a willingness to learn.

Working Arrangement: Hybrid - a minimum of three days in office per week
