Role: Instrumentation Sales Engineer (Emerson Solutions)

Location

Remote Full Time (40 hours/week)

Flexibility required to support urgent customer requirements beyond standard working hours.

Reporting To

Head of Sales / Business Unit Lead Instrumentation

Role Overview

The Instrumentation Sales Engineer will be responsible for developing technically sound and commercially competitive proposals for process automation and instrumentation projects.

The role requires strong expertise in Emerson Process Management solutions, along with the ability to support sales teams during pre-bid activities, customer discussions, and project execution phases.

The candidate will work closely with OEM partners, engineering teams, procurement, and customers to deliver optimized instrumentation solutions aligned with project specifications and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Proposal Engineering & Cost Estimation

• Prepare accurate techno-commercial proposals and cost estimates for instrumentation systems.
• Analyze customer specifications, RFQs, and tender documents to develop compliant solutions.
• Ensure proposals are technically optimized, commercially competitive, and aligned with project requirements.
• Coordinate with OEMs (primarily Emerson) for technical clarification, pricing, and product selection.

2. Sales Support & Customer Engagement

• Provide technical support to the sales team during:
• Pre-bid meetings
• Technical discussions
• Proposal presentations
• Engage with customers to clarify technical requirements and recommend suitable solutions.
• Ensure a smooth transition from proposal stage to project execution.

3. Product & Application Expertise

Provide application engineering support for key instrumentation technologies, including:

• Level Measurement Systems (including Radar-based Tank Gauging)
• Flow Measurement (Ultrasonic Flow Meters & Coriolis Flow Meters)
• Pressure & Temperature Transmitters
• Gas Chromatographs for Process Analysis

Recommend optimal instrumentation solutions based on process conditions, application requirements, and industry standards.

4. Engineering & Technical Documentation

• Prepare technical deliverables including:
• Instrument datasheets
• Bill of Quantities (BOQ)
• Instrument specifications
• System architecture and design documentation
• Provide technical support to field teams including:
• Installation guidelines
• Technical clarifications
• Design criteria

5. Procurement & Vendor Coordination

• Support procurement teams in:
• Vendor evaluation and selection
• RFQ preparation and bid evaluation
• Technical compliance verification
• Coordinate with OEMs and suppliers to ensure timely technical and commercial inputs.

6. Bid Review & Continuous Improvement

• Conduct post-bid reviews and loss analysis to understand:
• Pricing gaps
• Technical deviations
• Competitive positioning
• Identify opportunities to improve future proposals and increase win rates.

Relevant Technology Experience

Hands-on familiarity with Emerson Process Management products, including:

• Rosemount Pressure & Temperature Transmitters
• Micro Motion Coriolis Flow Meters
• Ultrasonic Flow Measurement Systems
• Radar-Based Tank Gauging Systems
• Gas Chromatographs for Process Analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Instrumentation / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering

Experience

• 15 30+ years of experience in:
• Instrumentation proposal engineering
• Process automation solutions
• Technical sales support
• Experience working with Emerson or similar automation OEMs preferred.
