About the Role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Institutional Investment Operations Manager - EMEA Regulatory Reporting.
This role supports the Wells Fargo EMEA CIB Securities business, reporting to the Head of Wholesale International Regulatory Operations and Controls. This role has two main areas of responsibility 1) working within the EMEA Regulatory Operations team 2) acting as supervisor to the EMEA Ops team within region.
In this role, you will:
- Manage and develop team of individual contributors and managers working on complex issues
- Support the lifecycle of Institutional trades while managing a larger group or multiple groups covering the following functions: client account onboarding, cash payments, customer service, funding operations, custodial operations, securities settlement services, structured loan operations, general ledger reconciliation, as well as work to resolve confirmation and ISDA related issues
- Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development
- Collaborate with all business partners and various departments, create efficiencies and mitigate risk for team and organization
- Resolve complex issues and processes within Institutional Investment Operations
- Make decisions and resolve issues regarding resources, objectives and operations of functional area and team to meet business objectives
- Interpret and develop policies and procedures for functions with low to moderate complexity
- Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
- Lead team to achieve objectives and strategy
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Institutional Investment Operations group
- Mentor and guide talent development of direct reports and assist in hiring talent
- Oversight of front-to-back regulatory processes & reporting mechanisms to provide effective challenge and review.
- Design and production of robust daily, weekly monthly reporting to ensure compliance with the core regulatory requirements.
- Monitoring of established regulatory controls and any applicable reporting threshold changes
- Analysis and impact assessment across applicable EMEA regulations to ensure completeness.
- Documentation and capture of all regulatory processes and controls within the internal Regulatory Attestations & Control Tool
- Continuously reviewing the control environment for gaps or issues.
- Quarterly review and preparation of the group’s procedures.
- Collaborating globally to ensure alignment of procedures and processes.
- Coaches and guides the team members for consistence performance,
- Performance management (continuous Feedback / plan for growth) at individual team member level,
- Point of contact for any escalation,
- Plans the cross trainings to ensure 100 % production as these teams are small and independent in nature,
- Reduces the onshore dependency over the course of time to be self-reliant when needed,
- Manager may need to spend approximately 70% for monitoring & supervision and the rest 30% will be spent on his/her production.
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Institutional Investment Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 2+ years of Leadership experience
Desired Qualifications
- A deep understanding of current regulatory environment (EMIR, MIFID, SFTR, MAS, HKMA etc.) and how that impacts the business/operations (cash and derivative products)
- University degree/Post graduation in Business /Accounts/Economics/Stats.
- Experience of more than 15 years in EMEA regulatory reporting
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong resilience, with the ability to pursue items or required change.
- Ability to write reports / communicate with senior management and stakeholders.
- Extensive experience with EMEA regulatory requirements and reporting rules (MiFID II experience essential), with previous experience in a regulatory focused role in a financial services firm.
