IBM Netcool Developer

Job Description:

• Design, develop, and implement Netcool solutions and custom extensions for event and alarm management across enterprise environments.
• Work with Netcool OMNIbus, Impact, Probes, Gateways, ObjectServer, and WebGUI components to build, configure and enhance monitoring capabilities.
• Develop correlation policies, rules files, parsers, probes, and gateways to process, categorize, and forward events.
• Integrate Netcool with ITSM tools, dashboards, APIs and enterprise systems for alerts, ticketing, automation, and observability.
• Perform troubleshooting, defect fixes, and performance tuning for production and pre-production environments.
• Provide L2/L3 support for event processing workflows, alarm ingestion issues, and incident resolution.
• Write scripts (Perl, Shell, Python, or Java) to support automation, integrations, and monitoring enhancements.
• Produce technical documentation (design, configuration, SOPs) and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Mentor junior team members and interact with customers/stakeholders for requirement gathering and solution presentation.

Technical Skills & Expertise

• IBM Netcool/Tivoli Suite OMNIbus, Impact, ObjectServer, Probes, WebGUI.
• Good understanding of event management, alarm correlation, and observability patterns.
• Scripting & Programming: Perl, Shell scripting required; Python/Java preferred.
• Experience with integration technologies Web Services, REST APIs, ITSM connectors (e.g., ServiceNow).
• Familiarity with network and monitoring protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP, CORBA, TL1).
• Strong Unix/Linux/Windows platform experience.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes, incident/problem/change management framework.
