Job Description: Senior API Developer (IBM API Connect)

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced API Developer to join our team, specializing in IBM API Connect or Axway API Management (APIM) platforms. The ideal candidate will work on critical API migration projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth transition and optimal API performance. This role requires a deep understanding of API management, migration strategies, and integration best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

API Migration:

Lead the migration of APIs from other API Management platforms to IBM API Connect.

Design, implement, and validate migration strategies to ensure seamless API functionality.

Conduct gap analysis and adapt existing APIs to meet the target platform's requirements.

Development and Integration:

Develop and deploy APIs using IBM API Connect, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.

Integrate APIs with backend services and third-party systems.

Optimize API designs for performance and user experience.

Working experience with CI/CD and DevOps frameworks

Knowledge and experience in the use of API gateways, specifically IBM API Connect.

Must have understanding latest API Authentication standards and Authorization techniques.

Should have working experience with Open API Specification standards, specifically YAML.

Should communicate effectively with API owners, stake holders and technical teams.

A good understanding of IT security in the context of API integration.

Have experience of security implementations for Mutual Auth, Basic Auth, SSO, SAML, encrypt, decrypt, sign and verify.

Experience in OAuth 2, API Key Manager.

Knowledge of JSON, JWT and JWKS and their underlying specifications

Knowledge of XSLT, XPATH, XQuery and RegEx

Experience and knowledge in the use of the following technologies:

GIT, specifically Bitbucket

Jenkins

JIRA, Confluence and Bitbucket

Kibana

OAuth

OpenAPI specification

SOAP and REST

Strong focus on delivery and service-oriented mindset.

Should have strong analytical skills to understand the development requirements.

Must understand concepts like B2B, EAI, and ESB.

Agile mindset of pulling the work from backlog rather being pushed to take the task.

Take responsibility to own the work in end to end implementation

Testing and Troubleshooting:

Perform unit, integration, and performance testing of APIs during and after migration.

Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve API-related issues in real-time.

Collaboration and Documentation:

Collaborate with stakeholders, including architects, business analysts, and developers, to gather requirements and define solutions.

Maintain clear documentation for API designs, configurations, and migration processes.

Best Practices and Compliance:

Ensure all APIs adhere to organizational standards, security policies, and compliance requirements.

Stay updated on emerging trends in API management and suggest improvements to the platform.
