Director Human Resources (University Group)

Location: Pune

Experience: 18+ Years (Experience with a University group Mandatory)

Our client is seeking a strategic Director Human Resources to lead the people agenda at a University Group level, providing HR leadership and governance across multiple colleges and institutions. This role will be a key partner to senior leadership in shaping policies, systems, and culture that support academic excellence, research growth, and global engagement, while positioning the University Group as an employer of choice in higher education.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a group-wide HR strategy aligned with the University Groups academic, research, and international priorities.
• Provide strategic HR oversight across multiple colleges/campuses, ensuring consistency, quality, and scalability of HR practices.
• Partner with the Governing Council and senior leadership to anticipate workforce needs and build future-ready organizational structures.
• Build leadership pipelines and drive faculty and staff development, succession planning, and performance management.
• Lead initiatives for global talent attraction, mobility, and benchmarking against leading international universities.
• Foster a values-driven, inclusive, and high-performance culture across the University Group.
• Advise leadership on HR policies, compensation frameworks, governance matters, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

• Masters degree in HR, Management, or a related field.
• 18+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably within large universities or university groups.
• Strong understanding of Indian higher education regulations and global HR trends.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead large-scale organizational transformation.
