1. Job Details

• Job Title: Hostel Warden

• Reporting To: Chief Warden

2. Job Purpose

To actively manage and oversee all operational aspects of the hostels while supporting the Chief Warden. The role includes ensuring safety, discipline, maintenance, student welfare, and regular updates to the Chief Warden.

3. Key Accountabilities

Strategic Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall management of existing and upcoming hostels.

Operational Responsibilities

• Allot rooms to students as per allocation procedures.
• Ensure timely and effective housekeeping and cleanliness of hostel premises.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for all residents.
• Uphold discipline and address behavioral concerns within the hostel premises.
• Oversee the maintenance of hostel infrastructure, including furniture and fittings.
• Monitor the quality of food served in the hostel mess/canteen.
• Address student grievances and escalate unresolved issues to the Chief Warden.
• Administer basic first aid and arrange for medical assistance during emergencies.
• Ensure optimal occupancy in all hostels throughout the academic year.
• Maintain updated records of all hostel residents.
• Ensure maintenance issues are resolved within 48 hours to one week, based on urgency.

Financial and Budgetary Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Chief Warden regarding budgetary and financial matters as required.

Collaborations

• Work closely with other university departments for smooth operations.

Academic Awareness

• Stay informed about academic calendars and student schedules to support hostel logistics.

Minimum Qualification & Experience

Graduate or postgraduate with a minimum of 6 years plus relevant experience.
