Job Description
The Head - Power & Energy will be a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing Smartworks power, HVAC, and energy strategy across its managed workspace portfolio Pan India .
This leader will oversee design standards, energy audits, operational excellence and vendor strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategy & Leadership
- Define and drive the overall power, and energy management strategy aligned with Smartworks growth and sustainability goals.
- Establish design standards, technical SOPs, and best practices for HVAC and electrical systems across all assets.
- Act as a thought leader on energy efficiency, renewable integration, and green building initiatives.
2. HVAC & Electrical Systems Excellence
- Lead end to end HVAC design, review, execution, and optimization for large commercial workspaces.
- Oversee electrical power systems, including High voltage/Low voltage infrastructure, substations, UPS, and power distribution.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and regulatory standards across all locations.
3. Energy Audits & Sustainability
- Drive energy audits , benchmarking, and continuous monitoring across the portfolio.
- Identify and execute energy conservation measures (ECMs) and sustainability initiatives.
- Support certifications such as IGBC, LEED, GRIHA, and ESG reporting requirements.
4. P&L and Commercial Ownership
- Own budgeting, cost control, and P&L performance related to power and energy operations.
- Drive energy cost optimization, reduction in operating expenses, and improved margin performance.
- Evaluate and implement CAPEX vs OPEX tradeoffs, ROI based energy investments, and lifecycle costing.
5. Team & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and mentor multicity engineering and energy teams, building high performance capabilities.
- Manage and negotiate with OEMs, consultants, contractors, and energy service partners.
- Partner with Sales, Projects, Finance, Operations, and Asset Management teams for seamless execution.
6. Communication & Executive Engagement
- Present energy performance, cost savings, and strategic initiatives to Senior leadership.
- Communicate effectively with clients, landlords, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
- Support client conversations on energy efficiency, sustainability, and value engineering.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong expertise in HVAC design, electrical power systems, and energy management.
- Proven experience in Energy audits , optimization, and cost reduction at scale.
- Strategic thinking with strong commercial and P&L orientation.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-location, asset-heavy environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in electrical/mechanical engineering.
- 16+ years of experience in power systems, or energy management, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Prior experience in commercial real estate, managed offices, large facilities, data centers, or infrastructure heavy environments preferred.
- Exposure to sustainability frameworks, green buildings, and ESG initiatives is a strong advantage.
