Head of Research

About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned Head of Research to lead and scale our research function across equity markets. The role will be responsible for defining the overall research strategy, ensuring high-quality outputs across Sell Side and Buy Side research , supporting wealth management and institutional businesses, and building a strong, credible research brand for the organization.

This is a leadership role requiring deep capital markets expertise , strong people management, and the ability to align research insights with business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and own the end-to-end Research function (Equity Research Sell Side & Buy Side).
• Define and execute the research vision, framework, and governance aligned with business strategy.
• Oversee coverage across sectors, stocks, thematic research, and market strategy.
• Ensure high-quality research outputs including initiation notes, earnings previews/reviews, sector reports, and investment ideas.
• Actively support wealth management, PMS, AIF, IB, and institutional sales teams with actionable insights.
• Present research views to clients, senior management, and investment committees .
• Build, mentor, and manage a team of analysts; set KRAs, review performance, and upskill the team.
• Ensure regulatory compliance (SEBI Research Analyst regulations, disclosures, Chinese walls).
• Drive thought leadership through media interactions, webinars, and investor presentations.
• Collaborate with Sales, Investment Advisory, and Product teams to improve client engagement and revenue enablement.

Qualifications

• Education: MBA (Finance) / CA / CFA (preferred). Engineering + MBA (Finance) combinations are welcome.
• Experience: 10+ years in Buy Side Equity Research
• Budget : Market standard hike upto 45LPA

Skills Required

Domain Skills

• Strong expertise in Equity Markets, Fundamental Research, Valuation, and Portfolio Strategy .
• Proven experience across Sell Side and/or Buy Side Research .
• Sound understanding of wealth management products (Equities, PMS, AIF, Mutual Funds).
• Ability to convert research into actionable investment strategies .

Technical Skills

• Advanced financial modeling, valuation techniques, and analytical frameworks.
• Strong command over research tools, databases, and Excel/PowerPoint.
• Experience in building standardized research templates and processes.
• Familiarity with compliance and regulatory documentation.

Managerial Skills

• Proven leadership experience managing and scaling research teams.
• Strong stakeholder management with Sales, Wealth, IB, and Senior Leadership.
• Ability to drive accountability, quality, and timelines.
• Strategic thinking with execution focus.
