Head of Legal

The role is responsible for providing legal oversight across business operations, managing litigation, ensuring regulatory adherence, and supporting strategic transactions. The position requires strong commercial acumen, risk management capability, and the ability to advise leadership on complex legal matters

Role & Responsibilities

Legal Strategy & Governance

• Develop and implement the organization's legal strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Provide executive leadership with legal guidance on critical business decisions.
• Establish governance frameworks, policies, and controls.
• Establish Risk profile

Contracts & Commercial Advisory

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and business agreements, JV Agreements, land related, MoUs, vendor contracts, SHA, and strategic partnerships (Domestic & International).
• Support procurement, project, and business development teams in contract structuring.
• Ensure standardization and risk mitigation in commercial documentation.

Regulatory & Statutory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.
• Monitor changes in legislation and assess business impact.
• Drive internal compliance audits and implement corrective actions
• Liaise with counsels, attorneys, regulators and authorities

Qualification and Skills Required

• LLB/LLM from a recognized institution
• 15+ years of progressive experience in corporate / law firms legal roles
• Strong expertise in commercial law & land related matters, knowledge of corporate governance, and litigation management
• Experience in infrastructure/energy/renewables/EPC sectors preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent negotiation and communication abilities
• High integrity and sound judgement
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and high-complexity matters
