About the Role

The Head IT will be responsible for leading the overall information technology strategy and infrastructure to support biosimilar research, development, manufacturing, and regulatory operations. This role will ensure the implementation of secure, scalable, and compliant technology systems aligned with global pharmaceutical standards. The position will play a key role in digital transformation, data governance, cybersecurity, and cross-functional collaboration across R&D, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Infrastructure & Software Implementation

• Develop and manage scalable IT infrastructure supporting R&D, manufacturing, and quality control functions.
• Lead planning and execution of enterprise software implementations aligned with biosimilar development processes.
• Ensure all systems and platforms comply with GxP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage cloud infrastructure, network architecture, and data centers to ensure high system availability and performance.
• Collaborate with external vendors and technology partners while managing service level agreements (SLAs).

2. Cybersecurity

• Design and implement a robust cybersecurity framework to protect corporate and operational data.
• Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk management initiatives.
• Establish company-wide cybersecurity policies and awareness programs.
• Deploy advanced security technologies including firewalls, encryption systems, and identity access controls.

3. Data Management & Scalability

• Enable data-driven decision making through advanced analytics and data management platforms.
• Oversee enterprise data integration, storage, and governance systems.
• Implement scalable data architecture capable of handling increasing volumes of research and operational data.
• Ensure data integrity, accessibility, and regulatory compliance across systems.

4. Compliance & Regulatory Requirements

• Ensure IT operations comply with relevant regulatory frameworks including GDPR, HIPAA, and other global data protection regulations.
• Work closely with legal and compliance teams to monitor regulatory updates across different geographies.
• Implement robust data governance practices to maintain data privacy and security.
• Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments.

5. IT Policy Development

• Develop and implement enterprise-wide IT policies and governance frameworks.
• Ensure policies align with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational objectives.
• Continuously review and update policies to address evolving technology and compliance needs.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and regulatory teams to implement technology solutions tailored to biosimilar operations.
• Lead digital transformation initiatives to improve efficiency across product development, manufacturing, and distribution processes.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on emerging technology trends and IT investments.

7. Team Leadership & Development

• Build and lead a high-performing IT team focused on innovation, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Set clear objectives, performance metrics, and professional development plans for team members.
• Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technological innovation.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• MBA or equivalent management qualification is preferred.

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 20+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or biosimilar organizations.
• Strong experience in IT infrastructure, enterprise software implementation, cybersecurity, and data management.
• Proven expertise in GxP-compliant IT systems within regulated environments.
• Deep understanding of global regulatory requirements including GDPR and HIPAA.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.
