Head of Financial Institutions

Job Title: Head Financial Institutions Group (FIG)

Location: Mumbai

Role Overview

The Head FIG will be responsible for building, managing, and scaling relationships with Financial Institutions (Banks, NBFCs, Mutual Funds, Insurance Companies, AIFs, PE/VC Funds, etc.) while driving deal origination, structuring, and closure across debt, structured finance, and capital markets transactions.

This is a revenue leadership role requiring strong market connectivity, deal execution expertise, and team-building capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development & Revenue Generation

• Lead origination of mandates across Debt Syndication, Structured Finance, and Capital Raising.
• Develop and maintain deep relationships with financial institutions for deal sourcing and closures.
• Drive top-line revenue and P&L ownership for the FIG vertical.

2. Relationship Management (Core FIG Role)

• Build and manage relationships with:
• Banks & NBFCs
• Mutual Funds & Insurance Companies
• AIFs, PE/VC Funds
• Family Offices & Institutional Investors
• Act as the primary interface between Organization and lenders/investors.

3. Deal Execution & Structuring

• Lead end-to-end deal lifecycle:
• Opportunity evaluation
• Structuring of financing solutions
• Lender/investor identification
• Negotiation & closure
• Work closely with internal teams for financial modeling, documentation, and execution.

4. Strategic Initiatives

• Identify new opportunities in:
• Structured credit
• Special situations
• Distressed assets
• AIF fund raises
• Build innovative financing solutions aligned with client needs.

5. Team Leadership

• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing FIG team.
• Drive a performance-driven culture with strong execution discipline.

6. Market Intelligence & Positioning

• Track market trends, regulatory changes, and capital flows.
• Position Organization as a preferred partner for financial institutions.

Key Requirements

Experience

• 1220 years of experience in:
• Investment Banking / Debt Syndication
• Corporate Banking / Structured Finance
• Financial Institution Coverage (FIG)
• Strong experience in dealing with lenders and institutional investors.

Skills

• Deep understanding of:
• Credit markets & structured products
• Debt instruments (TL, NCDs, structured debt, etc.)
• Strong network across banks, NBFCs, funds, and institutions
• Excellent negotiation, relationship management, and deal-making skills
• Proven revenue generation track record

Education

• CA / MBA (Finance) / CFA preferred
