• This is not a scale-only role and not a delegation-only role.
• We are a funded PropTech startup at a stage where technology is the business, not a support function. The platform is live, customers are real, and the next phase demands architectural rigour, execution velocity, and leadership by example.
• We are looking for a Head of Engineering who still writes code, makes hard trade-offs, and enjoys building systems that will be stressed by growth.

• End-to-end ownership of the engineering function across architecture, execution, delivery, and reliability
• Designing and scaling production-grade systems across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
• Hands-on leadership of a lean, high-output engineering team
• Translating product and business intent into robust technical solutions
• Making pragmatic decisions in real-world startup constraints - time, cost and talent
• Building systems that are secure, observable, scalable, and future-ready
  

• Architect, build, and ship full-stack systems using React, Node.js, and modern web technologies
• Design scalable backend services, APIs, and data models using Node.js and MongoDB
• Own cloud infrastructure on AWS, including deployment, scaling, cost efficiency, and reliability
• Establish and evolve CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, and incident response
• Set technical standards around system design, security, and performance
• Integrate Generative AI capabilities into real product workflows where it creates tangible value
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and hands-on problem solving
• Partner closely with founders and product leaders to align tech with business outcomes
  

• 12+ years of engineering experience with significant time spent in hands-on roles
• Strong full-stack expertise across React, Node.js, APIs, and cloud-native architectures
• Deep experience with MongoDB including schema design, indexing, and performance tuning
• Proven experience running production systems on AWS
• Solid understanding of system design, distributed systems fundamentals, and security best practices
• Experience setting up and running engineering systems end-to-end, not inheriting them
• Working knowledge of Generative AI, including LLMs, embeddings, inference workflows, and integration patterns
• Comfort operating without heavy process, large teams, or perfect information
• Clear, confident communicator who can guide teams and explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders
