Head of Engineering | B2C Live-streaming Portfolio Company

One of our early-stage B2C portfolio companies building the future of live-streaming is seeing great traction, and is now looking for a Head of Engineering to join and lead the team.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement server-side video compositing pipelines for live and interactive streams
• Handle real-time video/audio mixing, overlays, layouts, transitions, and effects on the server
• Build low-latency streaming workflows using RTMP, WebRTC, HLS, DASH, SRT, or similar protocols
• Optimize stream startup time, buffering, frame accuracy, and end-to-end latency
• Develop scalable backend services for live streaming using Node.js, Go, Python, or similar
• Deploy and manage streaming workloads on AWS / GCP / Azure
• Work with Docker, Kubernetes, and autoscaling strategies for live workloads

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with server-side video compositing
• Deep understanding of real-time video/audio encoding, decoding, and muxing
• Expertise in FFmpeg/GStreamer pipelines (filters, overlays, audio mixing, sync handling)
• Experience with live commerce, gaming, or large-scale broadcast platforms
• Prior experience building custom media servers or real-time engines
• Someone excited to be part of the 0 to 1 journey
